When a movie does extremely well at the box office, expectations of a sequel rise. And sometimes a sequel follows even when not really required. They are a way to make the most the success of the first movie even though some sequels may not make sense at all. However, there a few movies that totally deserve one. Let's talk of a few Malayalam movies for instance. There are some Malayalam sequels that have already been announced and the shooting is well underway.
Here is a list of five Malayalam sequels all set to release soon and a few films that are rumored to have one sometime soon:
Jean Paul Lal’s debut movie Honey Bee (2013) was a laugh riot and it is back again to tickle your funny bones. The shooting for Honey Bee 2 is in progress and the movie will be ready for release next year. The original cast Asif Ali, Bhavana, Baburaj, Balu Varghese, Sreenath Bhasi, and Archana Kavi will be back. There are rumors of some fresh faces joining the cast too. This is one movie we can’t wait to watch, buddy!
CID Moosa 2
Dileep will be back soon to entertain us as CID Moosa, one of his best roles till date. The original directed by Johny Antony of Bhaiyya Bhaiyya (2014) and Thoppil Joppan (2016) fame had Bhavana, Jagathi Sreekumar, Harisree Ashokan, Salim Kumar and the late Cochin Hanifa in the cast. The announcement of the sequel was made by the lead actor Dileep a while back and since then there hasn't been much developments to talk of. While we patiently wait for the next announcement, let’s look at a comedy clip from the original movie:
Adi Kapyare Kootamani 2The horror comedy, which met with a lot of success when it hit theatres will have a sequel releasing next year. Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Vineeth Mohan will reprise their roles in this John Varghese-directed sequel. The film hopefully will answer a lot of questions fans had since the first movie ended abruptly.
Thira 2The debut movie of Dhyan Sreenivasan will have a sequel but sadly he won't be part of it. Evergreen beauty Shobana will however continue to be a part of the movie directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan who at one point had announced to make the film dealing with the issue of human trafficking, a trilogy.
Ee Parakkum Thalika 2
The 2001-released comedy movie starring Dileep and Harisree Ashokan will reportedly also have a sequel. The original movie directed by Thaha was all about how Dileep's character dealt with his bus in a dismal condition. Let's hope these sequels live up to the expectations built and achieve the success their original did.
