The movie ‘The Magic of Giving’ is a sweet and simple 17 minute affair. It aims at spreading the message of positivity, giving and sharing. This film is a positive initiation towards independent indie short films. Chicago based Director-Producer Shahroze Sadath claims to have gotten inspiration for the film when he was sitting at a quick service restaurant. Actors Vaquar Qureshi, Shweta Gulati, and Kunal Kaushik play their parts perfectly. Agastya does a decent job with the background score. Although Magic of Giving will not be seeing a theatrical release, it has already been launched on YouTube. The movie has received 4 awards at international film festivals and is already on the path towards winning many more, with its recent nomination at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival.
The story is about a poor yet compassionate auto rickshaw driver (Vaquar Shaikh) whose child wishes to get fancy food for tiffin. Everytime the child questions his father, he stalls him saying he will get it someday soon. One day a couple take a ride in his rickshaw, and on the way they are subjected to the drivers kindness while striking a conversation with him,. Happy with the driver, the passenger (Kunal Kaushik) buys him lunch. The same kind of lunch that the child wanted in his tiffin box. He does not eat it, instead saves the food for his kid. After dropping the passengers home, the driver rushes towards his own home to help fulfill his childs wish. However, the film does not end here. What follows, is a twist of fate for the driver. What is it? Does the child finally end up getting the lunch that he has always fancied? Find out below:
