It shouldn’t come as a surprise to us that some of our top actors also happen to be really good singers. From dancing, doing their own stunts to now singing, actors are going all out to multi-task. Back in the day, there was one Kishore Kumar. In recent times it has become quite the thing for actors to show-off their singing abilities. Most recently, Salman Khan lent his voice in his home production film, Hero. Before Salman, Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan and many more have tried singing in their movies and met with their fans’ approval. Take a look.
Salman Khan – Bhai Can Do It All
Good or bad, you may have your opinion about Salman Khan
but the man marches to the beat of his own drum. He is said to have the Midas Touch at the box-office. And when Bhai
tried his hand at singing in his 2014 blockbuster Kick
, fans went nuts. The superstar went out of his way and recorded a zany love song and Hangover
in the album, and later even recorded all songs from the movie. It wasn’t the first time for him though. He has previously sang his own songs in Hello Brother (1999), Chal Mere Bhai (2000), Yuvvraaj (2008), Wanted (2009), Prem Ka Game (2010)
and Bodyguard (2011)
. As a promotional strategy for his upcoming production venture, Hero
, he recorded another love called called Main Hoon Tera Hero
. We loved his geeky spectacle look in the video. A treat for all the Bhai fans out there.
Priyanka Chopra – Winning Hearts Globally
She has left a lasting impression in both Bollywood and Hollywood
with her acting skills. It was not till recently though that the world was made familiar with Priyanka Chopra
‘s musical flair. The dazzling diva has released three singles featuring international artists. She made her Bollywood singing debut with Chaoro (Lori) in Mary Kom (2014)
and later sang a duet with Farhan Akhtar in Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).
Shraddha Kapoor – Two Much Talent
The young actress won many hearts with her performance as a budding singer in Aashiqui 2 (2013).
After playing a reel life singer in that film, Shraddha Kapoor
lent her voice in Ek Villain (2014)
for the unplugged version of Galliyan,
a song that went on to become a chartbuster. This dainty beauty also sang a duet in Haider (2014)
and a reprise version of Bezubaan Phir Se
for ABCD 2 (2015).
Alia Bhatt – The Next Big Thing
Since her debut with Student Of The Year (2012)
has never looked back. She too is blessed with a gifted voice. Alia Bhatt
sang Sooha Saaha
along with Pakistani singer Zeb
in her second film Highway (2014).
It was AR Rahman
who encouraged her to give singing a shot and apparently even said that Alia could be an accomplished vocalist if she is trained well. The young actress also recorded an unplugged version of Samjhawan
for her 2014 release Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
Farhan Akhtar – The One Stop Shop
would do just about everything in a movie if he could. Be it producing, directing, acting, singing, the man does it all. His musical talents have been there for everybody to see for a while now. Farhan sang all of his songs in his debut movie, Rock On!! (2008)
and then sang the peppy number Senorita in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
. As mentioed earlier, he recently also sang a duet with Priyanka Chopra in Dil Dhadakne Do.
Farhan also fronts his band – Farhan Live
and regularly performs across the country.
Amitabh Bachchan – The Immortal Voice
This voice that an entire nation swears by was once rejected by All India Radio
when Amitabh Bachchan
auditioned for being a news reader and commentator. Today, there are few who wouldn’t recognise that booming baritone instantly. He first sang Mere Paas Aao in Mr. Natwarlal (1979)
. Then that famous Holi
song that no Holi party is complete without – Rang Barse in Silsila (1981).
Years later, Main Yahan Tu Wahan
was a big hit that he sang in Baghban (2003)
. Other movies you will find songs sung by Bachchan include Mahaan (1983), Bhoothnath (2008), Paa (2009), Bol Bachchan (2012) and Shamitabh (2015)
among others. The actor has also sung a Bengali song
in Kahaani (2012).
He recently even rapped
promoting India’s own the Pro Kabaddi League.
