6 Bollywood directors who turned actors

The wait is over! The masses and media would finally get to witness the most celebrated director of Bollywood, Karan Johar in the upcoming crime film, Bombay Velvet. However, he’s not the first director who chose to venture into acting. Bollywood has several directors who have successfully spiced up their resumes with acting credentials. And it’s fascinating to watch how these people who are responsible for making a star out of an actor are so innately talented. So here’s a shout out to all those directors who decided to step out of their comfort zones and entertain the masses with their talent. Here’s a look at 6 directors who successfully made it to the cut:

Farhan Akhtar: Intelligence is the new sexy in Bollywood and Farhan definitely suits the bill. Despite having a successful directorial career, he decided to foray into acting. Best. Decision. Ever! Don’t you think? 

 

Farah Khan: Farah Khan is quite a passionate woman when it comes to Bollywood. If you see her career graph, the ace choreographer won hearts in no matter which field she has endeavored into. Choreography, direction and finally acting, she nailed it all.

 

Mahesh Manjrekar: He is responsible for giving Bollywood one of the best underworld/crime film, Vaastav. Also, this man is known for stunning the viewers with his performance in Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy.

 

Anurag Kashyap: No, we are not referring to his many cameo appearances, the well-known director had a full-fledged role of an antagonist in the film Shagird (2011).

 

Sudhir Mishra: Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal featured Sudhir Mishra as one of the cast members. With a credible directorial career, it was interesting to watch the filmmaker in a new light.

 

Amol Gupte: With films like Taare Zameen Par and Stanley Ka Dabba to his name, Amol Gupte is undoubtedly an epitome of talent. Direction, story-writing, acting… he’s done it all!

And yes, Karan Johar is all set to join the bandwagon. Go catch him as the quick-witted Parsi media mogul, Kaizad Khambata in Bombay Velvet.
