6 Superhit films Rejected by Popular Actors

Films often produce a calming effect on the viewer. We fall in love with the character or relate to them, this may be because of how instantly we like the character. We often feel like the character was especially written for the particular actor. But what if it wasn’t? Some of the most popular films starred actors who weren’t the first choice for the role. The actors have rejected these due to reasons ranging from their tight schedule to their disagreement with the filmmakers. From Ajith to Suriya, we tell you a list films rejected by popular Tollywood and Kollywood actors.

24 (2016)
Rejected by: Mahesh Babu

Accepted by: Suriya
After watching director Vikram Kumar’s Manam, Mahesh Babu was impressed with the director and wanted to star in his next film. However, after Vikram Kumar narrated the story to him, he expressed his doubts with the film’s story. This script was then narrated to Suirya. The actor has a moderately good fan based in Telengana and Andhra Pradesh, which is why the makers have released the film in Tamil and Telugu. It also has to be noted that Suriya was approached to play the lead role in the film Businessman (2012) that starred Mahesh Babu in the lead.
Mudhalvan (1999)

Rejected by: Vijay | Rajinikanth

Accepted by: Arjun
Director Shankar revealed that the script was initially written keeping Rajinikanth in mind. But due to numerous political references in the film, Rajinikanth decided to back out of it. Vijay was then approached for the role, but decided not to work on it. The film gained positive response from the audience and critics alike, and it is safe to say that Arjun seemed like the perfect choice for the film.
Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu (2012)

Rejected by: Ram Charan

Accepted by: Nani
Director Gautam Menon’s Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu was first offered to Ram Charan. It is reported that the actor walked out of the project due to some creative differences. The film featured Nani and Samantha in lead roles, and gained appreciation for their performances.

The Telugu super hit film, Arya was offered to Jr NTR, however he could’nt be part of the film due to unavailability of dates. Needless to say that Arya worked in favour of Allu Arjun, and he became an overnight sensation after this film. He also starred in the sequel, Arya 2.

Accepted by: Jiiva
We are sure Jiiva is proud of Ko; it was a well-made and loved film after all. But he wasn’t the first choice for the film. Directed by K. V. Anand, Ko was initially offered to Simbu, who had decided to walk out of the project due to creative differences.
Enthiran (2010)

Accepted by: Rajinikanth
Starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles, director Shankar’s Enthiran is easily one of the highest-grossing films of Tamil cinema. But did you know that the film was initially said to be made with Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta in the lead.
