We have seen Bengali beauties walk in and out of the film fraternity but Rani Mukerji is here to stay. Over the years, she has not only proved herself as an actor, but has also managed to stand out despite being pitted against some of the biggest stars in the business. We love her husky voice, dusky skin, hazel eyes and of course, the confidence with which she could give any actress a run for her money. From playing Michelle in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black (2005) to playing Meera in Rajkumar Gupta's No One Killed Jessica (2011), there is nothing she cannot do. She can look as good in a saree, and also in a dress as she did in the 'Koi Mil Gaya' song in Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. Today, as Rani turns 38, we would like to remind you of a few things about her which you might have forgotten (or probably wouldn't have even known).
1. Bengali film Biyer Phool
At the age of 14, Rani starred in her father's film Biyer Phool, alongside veteran Prasenjit Chatterjee. The rest is history!
2. On CID
In 2011, Rani reprised her No One Killed Jessica role for a CID episode. She is seen solving a murder mystery, ACP Pradyuman-style!
3. Adnan Sami's Tera Chehra
Rani featured in Adnan Sami's Tera Chehra video, back in 2002. That was surely a visual treat for all her lovers.
4. Judge on a reality show
We all know she is a great dancer, we've seen her belly dance to Aga Bai. In 2009, she was a judge on the reality show Dance Premier League.
5. The Namesake
Not many of us know, but she was offered Tabu's role in Mira Nair's The Namesake, which she could not commit to as she was busy shooting for KJo's Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.
6. Pervez Musharraf's Dinner
It is said that Begum Sehba Musharraf loved Rani after her film Veer Zaara, because of which she was the only Bollywood star to be included in the dinner hosted for Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in Delhi.
7. A Song dedicated to Rani
American Hip Hop duo Blue Scholars released a song dedicated to her. Well, here is how the words go – "Don't need to flaunt, don't gotta hide. Brown skin lady, let your darkness shine. Don't ever change cuz you're doing just fine."
8. Eye Donation
The hazel-eyed actress announced in 2009, that her eyes would be donated posthumously. She believes in lighting up lives.
