8 Undisclosed facts about Kochadaiiyaan

The only actor who can not only shatter the box-office records but can also hold the record for the number of twitter followers in one day. Yes, superstar Rajinikanth has joined the popular micro-blogging site in an aim to connect with him fans. Considering the fact that his handle went active a few days before the release of Kochadaiyaan, industry traders say this is marketing strategy; in an aim to promote the film. But come what may, fans will still flock theaters to catch the animated Thalaivar in 3D. The main reason being: Thalaivar’s return on the big screen after a three years hiatus. Having stated the obvious there are several other reasons this movie has been generating buzz. We give you 8 unknown facts about this historic-drama. 

1.  3D Motion Capture Technology
 
The director of the film Soundarya Ashwin Rajinikanth took the road less travelled, by introducing India’s first movie using 3D motion capture technology. Ever since the announcement of the project one must’ve head this technological term umpteen times. For those of you who don’t know what it is, here goes.
 
 
Motion capture is the process of recording a live motion event by actors and translating it into data that allows for a 2D or 3D recreation of the performance. In other words, transforming a live performance into a digital performance and providing the audience a whole new experience.
 
2.Motion Capture Technology in the film Jeans
 
Shankar’s 1998 rom-com Jeans already incorporated this technology in 2D. This can be seen in the song Kannodo Kanvadelam. 
 
3.125 crores – 200 Technicians – 2 years
 
The 125 crore dynamite of a project had close to 200 technicians working on the film that spanned over 2 years. Whereas the Hollywood films used the same technology took much more time and money.
 
 
[Avatar was made on a budget of Rs. 3,000 crore and was completed in five years, while Tin Tin cost about Rs. 4,000 crore and also took about five years.]
 
4.The first Indian movie to release in 7 languages simultaneously
 
Kochadaiiyaan is the first film in Indian cinema to be released in six languages namely – Tamil, Telegu, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi and Bhojpuri. What’s more? The film will also be released in Japan, where the superstar has a significant fan following.
 
5.The Oscar association 
 
With songs like Manapen In Sathiyam and Enge Pogudhu vanam turning out to be chartbusters from day one, it is needless to say that the film’s music has been composed by a veteran. Yes, it is none other than Oscar award winner A.R.Rahman.
 
 
It also has another Oscar award winner Resul Pookkuty who is the sound designer of this film.
 
6.Spectacular visuals
 
The stunning animation and visual effects have been designed and created by CentroidStudios. The same studios that created visual effects for Brad Pitt’s World War Z. They have taken painstaking effort to create the magic of Rajinikanth on screen, using an infrared ray technology pointed on his body suit. The shoot of the film took place in two different locations namely: London and Hong Kong.

7.Costumes
 
A film on a period-drama always requires excellence in research especially in the set and costume design department; and the makers of Kochadaiyaan haven’t misprized it. Four time national award winner and celebrated costume designer Neeta Lulla has created exquisite looks for the actors in the film.
 
8.An Aspiring Director 
 
The director of the film, Soundarya Rajinikanth has already been honoured with the NDTV Indian of the year award for technical innovation.
 
 
The film will open in more than 6000 screen worldwide – with 100 screens in USA alone. This is the highest number of screens allotted for a South Indian film. We hope that this breaks the myth of being deemed as cartoon film and is accepted as a film known for its technological innovation.

    Thalaivaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……….Super Star always rocks the world!!! He is the real super star of India. Am waiting for the movie from the time they started shooting.
