Recently, there has been a lot of buzz about Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone making their debut in Hollywood. Irrfan Khan has already made a name for himself in both, Hollywood and Bollywood. But Bollywood stars aren’t the only ones testing the international waters. There have been many Hollywood artists who have tried their hand at acting in a Bollywood movie. Some have amazed us while a few others have our sympathy for going through the ordeal. We have compiled a list of 10 Hollywood stars who have taken a step out of their comfort zone and made a cameo or played a role in a Bollywood movie.
Mehdi Nebbou in English Vinglish
This French superstar of Algerian descent has tried his hand at all kinds of cinema ranging from Greece to Hollywood. His performance in English Vinglish had all the girls drooling over him.
Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards in Kambakkht Ishq
Rambo, Superman (Also Atom) and a Bond Girl together in a movie. Though their roles were short cameos and they even managed to get Sylvester Stallone to say Kambakht Ishq (after an awesome fight scene). Brandon Routh has a very small cameo (if you missed it, watch the movie very carefully the next time). Denise Richard plays Akshay Kumar’s fiancee and she is amazing.
Sir Ben Kingsley in Teen Patti
Every Indian identifies him as playing Mahatma Gandhi in the Hollywood production of the movie Mahatma. But Sir Ben Kingsley tried his luck in Bollywood with the movie Teen Patti. Guess, that didn’t go too well.
Kylie Minogue in Blue
Kylie Minogue was the Chiggy Wiggy girl in the Akshay Kumar starrer movie. This Australian singer started her acting career with an Australian sitcom called the Neighbours and made her Hollywood debut with the 1994 movie Mortal Kombat. Singing has always been her forte and she didn’t take up many acting projects, choosing to conduct tours instead.
Sarah Thompson Kane in Raajneeti
The actress best known for her role in the movie Cruel Intentions 2, impressed us with her acting capabilities in the multi-starer movie Raajneeti. Her role though was short and met a brutal end, it is still one of the most appreciated performances in the movie.
Paul Blackthorne in Lagaan
This Hollywood star made a mark in Bollywood as his performance in the Oscar nominated movie Lagaan. He played Captain Andrew Russel, the nemesis of the hero Bhuvan (Aamir Khan). If he seems very familiar, you might want to know that he is now seen on Arrow as Captain Lance (still a captain, huh?)
Snoop Dogg in Singh is King
At the end of the movie, you could see Snoop Dogg in a very desi avatar rapping to very desi beats (living proof of what Bollywood can make you do).
Antonia Bernath in Kisna
This blue-eyed beauty is a woman of many talents. She is an accomplished singer as well as an excellent actor. Her role is Kisna was quite appreciated and she was last seen playing the editor in the Emmy winning series Downton Abbey.
Gordan Liu in Chandni Chowk to China
Known for his role in the Quentin Tarantino film series Kill Bill, this actor of Chinese descent is a trained Martial arts expert and he played the role of a very formidable villain in the movie Chandmi Chowk to China. You may also have seen him in the dubbed version of The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.
