A Gentleman: Film Review- This Gentleman is Twisted

Verdict – A good dose of laughter, a little romance and a lot of bandookbazi.

It's that time of the year when most movies are following the same pattern. This time, the concept is doppelgangers. We saw Mubarakan last month, the trailer of Judwaa 2 recently and now, the Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, A Gentleman, which hit the cinemas today. But what if we tell you, you could be wrong about the last one? No, we're not saying anything. Not yet. We watched the movie this morning and frankly, quite liked it too. Here's a detailed review on what we have to say about it. Let's start with the story first.

Gaurav Kapoor (Sidharth Malhotra) has recently bought a house in Miami and leads a very simple life. He is sundar and susheel, making him our ideal description of marriage material. He happens to be secretly in love with Kavya (Jacqueline Fernandez) who is extremely outgoing, full of life and the exact opposite of Gaurav's personality. While Gaurav is a great guy, she fears that he's too nice and too boring as a person. Time for the entry of doppelganger Rishi, mafia and bandookbaaz, who is stealing confidential papers in Bangkok. From here on, the story of the two boys Rishi and Gaurav run parallel to each other until you realize the two are headed to clash paths very soon.

Gaurav's office is sending him to India with some highly confidential information and Rishi, who works for Colonel (Suniel Shetty) is ordered to get his hands on that information which, if leaked, could sabotage colonel's image and ruin him forever. Just when the two are about to meet, a twist in the plot makes you realize you have been played the whole time. That marks the end of the first half. The second half of the movie mostly sees a lot of action with a Tom and Jerry like chase and oh, Kavya and Gaurav's romance too.

The 2 hour 13 minute crime and romance drama is a decent entertainer you can watch over the weekend with your family. Directors DK and Raj, who have previously given us movies like Shor In the City, Go Goa Gone and Happy Ending, bring Sidharth and Jacqueline together as a couple for the first time and we must say, we are totally loving their on-screen chemistry.

We love how Sidharth has pulled off two challenging roles in one movie, and cannot help but obsess over how good he looks throughout the film. Jacqueline has kept a perfect balance of cuteness and hotness all along and her look in the song 'Baat Ban Jaaye' only makes us say one thing – wow! Suniel Shetty who rarely makes appearance in movies makes us nostalgic of his role in 'Main Hoon Na' and we can't help but love the villainous look on his face.

The music of the movie is good, overall. There aren't too many songs disturbing the script. You might even find yourself tapping your feet to Bandook Meri Laila which plays mostly in the background. Lastly, another fun thing we liked are the glimpses of not only Miami and Mumbai, but also Goa and Bangkok. This change in locations was a good idea.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
If you think you've seen Jacqueline's or Sidharth's hottest avatars, then you might be in for a surprise after watching them here. Their chemistry is commendable and so is Suniel Shetty's presence in the film. Watch it if you're looking for a perfect blend of comedy, drama and romance with a dash of thrill. We assure you, it won't be a waste of time.

I suggest you all watch Tis movie. Ts great. And fun and entertaining. Plus it proves Sidharth is actually an amazing diverse actor. I think he should leave comedy n romance to Varun and he ahould concerate on action. He is perfect at it

A Gentleman is sundar, but is neither susheel nor risky, as the makers want us to believe. Initially, we presume that the hero has a double role, later it is revealed that it is the same person, who changes his identity from a deadly gangster to a polite corporate guy. Script n logic are replaced by some good locations n stunts. Sidharth is decent in the title role, Jacqueline doesn't contribute much, Darshan Kumar is impressive. Good to see Suniel Shetty on the big screen. The music is bad, the second half needs to be trimmed by 20 minutes. Rating 2/5.
