Bradley Cooper, the 38 year old actor has been on T.V. since 1999, but it wasn’t until the character ‘Phil’ of The Hangover (2009) happened to him that he rose to mainstream fame. After struggling for a decade to find a break into the A-list of Hollywood, the actor gained some serious recognition in recent years for his acting skills on the silver screen.
Brief Background: Cooper began his acting venture in 1999 with the TV series, Sex and the City. But his career got on track with 2001’s Wet Hot American Summer, where he had a small yet memorable role. Soon he landed in his highest-profile gig in a supporting role on Jennifer Garner’s TV show Alias. After a few guest appearance in various TV series, he played his first popular villain character ‘Sack Lodge’ in the hit comedy Wedding Crashers. The famous role made him the heat of tinsel town and he landed himself with more TV series and few appearances in movies. But it was in 2008 that Cooper made his notable lead role in The Midnight Meat Train.
Keeping every acting stint aside, it was the 2009 blockbuster The Hangover that catapulted him into Hollywood’s big league. From then on, there’s been no turning back for Bradley Cooper! Though his graph went down slightly after The Hangover with movies including All About Steve, Valentine’s Day and The A-Team, but he bounced back into action with his Limitless (2011). This movie gave him a platform to prove that he had more to offer than his previous appearances in comic roles. His alluring performance in Limitless changed the entire perspective towards his acting skills. Cooper continued tickling the audience’s funny bone with his epic character in The Hangover Part II (2011).
Bradley reached the peak of his success after receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his role in the comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook (2012) where he plays ‘Pat Solitano’ who is struggling with bipolar disorder. The next big release was The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) where Cooper plays the dramatic role of a police officer who is struggling to come to terms with the killing of a suspect as a part of his duty. His upcoming movies include The Hangover Part III, Serena and American Hustle.
Analysis: The actor who came into the limelight in 2011 as People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, has played roles which were extreme in characters, from an extremely comic role in the Hangover franchise to the tricky and complex characters in Limitless, Silver Linings Playbook and The Place Beyond the Pines. To provide a deeper insight to his career, Bradley Cooper needs to explore further into more serious and diverse characters from what he has already portrayed on the silver screen. A fact worth mentioning: apart from The Hangover series character, Cooper hasn’t repeated himself in terms of the roles he has already donned. He should definitely grab the apt characters for his upcoming projects to retain his position in Hollywood’s A-list.
The road to stardom was indeed very long and hard-fought for Cooper, but the bottom line is ‘his hard work paid at last’. An inspiration to all the struggling artists dreaming to make it big on the silver screen, Cooper should take planned decisions for a secure future in filmdom. With a plethora of roles he portrayed as of now there is nothing to quibble about. Todo lo mejor Bradley Cooper!
