Aga Bai Arechyaa 2 Film Review: A lengthy laugh riot !

Aga Bai Arechyaa 2, a sequel to the 2004 film Aga Bai Arechya stars Sonali Kulkarni as Shubhangi Kudalkar,a mysterious woman who lives on her own in a sprawling mansion. Vikram Desai, an author looking for a new story is convinced by his publisher to interview this woman about her life. Shubangi then goes on to describe her life, and the comical accidents which happen to her loved ones.

Upon continuous requests by Desai for an interview, Shubhangi finally begins to reveal her story. She starts with her 12 year old self, falling in love with a 13 year old Prahlad in coastal Maharashtra. A song follows, with Prahlad and Shubhangi planning a fantasy elope. Her father, of course finds out, following which Prahlad goes to Dubai. Shubhangi goes on to believe that whenever a person of the opposite sex touches her, he will have an accident within the next twenty four hours.

She goes on to narrate her college life, and a marriage proposal from a entomologist, with an insect entering his ear. The duo fall in love gradually as the movie progresses, though the story looks hurried. The movie is strikingly similar to that of Jessica Alba’s Good Luck Chuck (2007), only here that the female lead is the harbinger of bad luck. At 131 minutes, Aga Bai Arechyaa is lengthy, with some avoidable scenes in the second half. Sonali Kulkarni manages to keep the movie together, and is refreshing in a comic role.

Why You Should Watch This Movie ?

A hilarious sequel, matched with commendable performances from the entire cast. Watch this one for the dialogues !

Watch it only for the performance of Sonali Kulkarni, she is fabulous as ‘Shubhangi” and one of the best Marathi Actress I have seen in the recent times. But as said in the review, the movie is too lengthy and feels like leaving the cinema hall few minutes after the interval.
