Most Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan, don't have more than one film releasing each year. But Akshay Kumar is not one of them. The actor generally works on multiple projects at a time and fans get to see him in at least two or three films a year. Last year was not that great for Khiladi Kumar as his movies Gabbar is Back, Brothers, and Singh is Bliing failed to impress. However, in 2016, the actor has more than made up for that. Today, on his birthday, let’s look at the blockbusters he’s given this year and how our users rated them.
Based on the evacuation of Indians during the Gulf War, Airlift was a gripping drama that became the first hit of the year. Akshay played the role of a rich businessman who helps fellow Indians get back home. His performance in this film is easily one of the best of his career.
After being a part of the first two installments in the Housefull series, Akshay Kumar was back to tickle the audience's funny bone in Housefull 3. Even though the film was a multi-starrer, it was Kumar who won all the praise. Well, we are not surprised, as the actor is known for his excellent comic timing.
While this film received mixed reviews from the critics, the audience simply loved it. Rustom showcased the controversial case of Naval Officer K. M. Nanavati and how it led to the abolition of jury trials.
Akshay Kumar also has some interesting films lined up for next year. He has replaced Arshad Warsi in the sequel of Jolly LLB and the film’s shoot will be wrapped up soon. Besides that, Kumar will team up with director Neeraj Pandey for the movie, Cracked. The film is slated to hit theatres around Independence Day. We simply cannot wait for these two movies to release and we are certain that they will be superhits!
