All Hail the Kollywood Queen, Nayanthara!

Originally named Diana Mariam Kurian, and born in Bangalore, this actress has gone on to become one of South cinema’s most reputed stars. With her gorgeous looks and subtle acting skills, she has won the hearts of the Kollywood audience. That is the reason we love Nayanthara! With a career spanning over a decade, she has portrayed several characters in her films. Although she’s always played the role of a glamorous heroine in her films, her recent choice of projects has revealed her acting prowess as well. An easy debut
 
 
Although Nayanthara debuted in Malayalam films, like Manassinakkare and Vismayathumbathu, opposite popular actors like Mammootty and Jayaram, she got immense recognition after she made her Tamil film debut in Ayya, opposite Sarath Kumar. After which she went on to star in films opposite Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith and Suriya. This eventually got her several offers in Telugu films as well, and she worked in projects starring Venkatesh, Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja. This made her one of the most sought-after heroines of the South. Although some of her films didn’t fare well at the box office, her performance always received praise. 
 
Controversies that shook tinsel town
 
 
In 2006, Nayanthara was in a relationship with her Vallavan co-star, Silambarasan. And like all celebrity relationships, this attracted the attention of the media, throwing a spotlight on the couple. A photograph featuring the two in an intimate position surfaced during this period. The couple eventually split. In 2009, Nayanthara got into a relationship with choreographer/director Prabhu Deva and the two decided to get married. She even converted to Hinduism in order to get married to him, and got a tattoo of his name. As a result, she also announced that Sri Rama Rajyam would be her last film. But things didn’t go as planned, and the couple split (the actress was accused of breaking up his marriage). Although, she won accolades and awards for her performance as Sita in the film Sri Rama Rajyam, her personal life hit a new low.
 
The big comeback

After being in the spotlight for her breakup, the actress decide to resume her work in films. In 2013, she starred in Atlee’s Raja Rani. Her bold avatar as the heart-broken girl, Regina, won her praises from the audience and the critics, making it a grand comeback for the actress.
