Amit Trivedi didn't have a typical start to his music career. His score for his first Hindi film – Aamir (please add release year) – went unnoticed as the movie didn't fare too well. Trivedi got a chance to showcase his wide range in Dev D and people did take notice. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, this modern take on Devdas had 13 songs and all of them were very different from each other. Amit won several awards for the film and soon became a favorite, especially of niche filmmakers. While Love You Zindagi, Shaam Shaandaar, and Iktara may be his most popular songs, here are some of his tracks that you should hear now.
Naav – Udaan
While Kahaani (Aankhon Ke Pardon Pe), Geet, and Aazaadiyan did well, Naav failed to make it to the charts. The song has a wonderful tune and the powerful lyrics take it to another level.
Monta Re – Lootera
Do you remember this song from Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera? No? Well, we can’t blame you. Monta Re was overshadowed by the tracks Zinda, Sawaar Loon and Ankahee. Play this one on loop.
Phas Gaya – Aamir
This one is a gem. It has clever lyrics, which perfectly describe the state of the film’s protagonist. Go hear it now. Don't blame us if you can’t get it out of your head.
Aitbaar – No One Killed Jessica
Vidya Balan and Rani Mukerji’s performances were the highlight of this film that was based on a true story. The music barely made a mark but Aitbaar can easily be considered as one of Amit Trivedi’s best work.
