An actress, film director, screenwriter, author and a philanthropist. Above all, is considered to be one of the most-beautiful women in the world. She has garnered acclaim and applause for her latest release, Maleficent. Critics and fans across the globe were full of praises for her role as the fairy-turned-witch, Maleficent. She is Angelina Jolie.
With Maleficent‘s critical and commercial success, the 38 year-old actress has hinted a possible retirement. In a recent interview with BBC, Angelina confirmed the return of the Queen Of Nile to the big screen. And she is planning her Hollywood exit after portraying the role of Cleopatra. It will be more like her acting skills shall take a backseat, replaced by full-time film direction and humanitarian work.
"We have been working on it", Angelina said. "There’s been lots of different ideas of directors and lots of different discussions. The script has been written by Eric Roth, who is a dear friend and a brilliant writer", she added.
The project is still in its planning stage. Based on Stacy Schiff’s 2010 Pulitzer prize-winner, Cleopatra: A Life. The Oscar-winning actress hinted Cleopatra is an iconic character to swan song from acting. Describing Cleopatra, Jolie further added, "She’s complicated, it’s complicated to get this one right. I think we’re getting there. It’s getting close. I imagine the preparation for it is going to be big. It’s one of those that you think maybe that’s the one you put everything into and that’s where you end it, that’s where you finish – in a great way. What could you do beyond that one?"
Angelina Jolie has reached the pinnacle of her career. "I’ve had a wonderful career and I’m very happy to have had all the opportunities to tell stories and work for as long as I have," she said. "I’m sure there will be more films but I am happy I am able to be selective and have fun with characters like this. But I would like to focus on writing and directing and above all I would like to focus more on my work with the UN."
Apart from being an active, popular celebrity in the world, Angelina is famous for her humanitarian work. At present, she works as a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
She kickstarted her onscreen journey as a child artist in 1982’s Lookin’ to Get Out. Gradually, she climbed the ladder of success, gaining recognition for her brilliant performances in several movies and TV films including Cyborg 2, Hackers, George Wallace, Gia and Girl, Interrupted. She shot to fame quickly with commercial and critical success like The Cradle of Life, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Salt, A Mighty Heart, to name a few. She marked her directorial debut with the war-drama, In the Land of Blood and Honey.
