Since its inception in 2011 by Mahindra group, the festival celebrates the culture and tradition of the Blues which originated in the Mississippi Delta. The festival has always been a major contributor in popularising fuelling a burgeoning interest in Blues music throughout the country. So popular it has become in India that, MBF was also nominated in 2014 for the 'Keeping the Blues Alive' award presented by the The Blues Foundation of America.
Every year MBF brings to India International Blues sensations like Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker Jr., Taj Mahal, and Walter Trout. This year as well, the festival has got an amazing line-up of artists from across the globe and promises to give fans 2 days of guitar-rippin', soul-trippin' action that will remain etched in their hearts forever. The first day of the festival will see local talent, called Blackstratblues who were the winners of Blues Band 2016. In addition, American blues, soul and Americana soul singer and songwriter, Janiva Magness will also be seen on the first day of the fest. and American singer and musician, performing and rocking the stage. On the second day, Grainne Duffy Band, Shemekia Copeland and Supersonic Blues Machine featuring Billy F Gibbons & Eric Gale will perform.
