Here’s Why Sunburn Klassique Is Going To Be Absolutely Unforgettable

Over the past few years, Sunburn has grown to become one of the biggest and most popular music festivals in India. It began on the beaches of Goa but later shifted to Pune and also expanded with different types of shows such as Sunburn City Festivals and Sunburn Arena so there is something throughout the year for music fans. Now, Sunburn is here with Sunburn Klassique, which brings the festival back to Goa for the ultimate homecoming.

The curated line-up consists of headliners who have performed at Sunburn over the past years – KSHMRMarkus Schulz, and Art Department – and also a renowned artist known by his golden-beaked mask making his India debut – Claptone. Some of the other artists you can expect to see perform over the two days are international artists Sultan + ShepardAlle FarbenGMSMandragoraRichard DurandUnderHer, and David Phimster with Indian artists like Arjun VagaleAnkytrixxMidival Punditz (with Nathulal Solanki), and Bullzeye.

There will be four stages at the festival – Klassique, Techno Kraft, Psychedelic Cirkus, and Vinyl Ambulance – with over 40 artists performing live. The festival will be held over two days – February 23 and 24. You can get festival passes that will grant you entry to both days or get a day pass if you can only make it to one day of Sunburn Klassique.

It looks like the competition is going to be tough for 2019 summer blockbusters as there is a lot of hype for all the movie releases. Here are the most-awaited movies of summer 2019 and why you should be watching them in theaters:

Shazam!

Release Date: April 05
What’s Exciting About It: DC’s most light-hearted superhero film yet

Just from the trailers, you can tell that Shazam! isn’t going to be like any other DC film you may have seen before. It’s packed with jokes, it’s self-aware, and it reinforces how fun it will be with an exclamation point at the end of the title.

Hellboy

Release Date: April 12
What’s Exciting About It: David Harbour reinvents the role

Guillermo Del Toro‘s horned hero is getting a grittier reboot with the main role being passed from Ron Perlman to the star cop from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. This will be David Harbour’s biggest film role yet and he looks delightfully demonic in the trailer.

Avengers: Endgame

Release Date: April 26
What’s Exciting About It: The end of an MCU era

Marvel brilliantly pulled off one of the biggest crossover events in film history with Avengers: Infinity War and it appears they will be continuing the success with Avengers: Endgame. They have managed to keep all major plot details under wraps, only giving tiny hints to the fans through the trailers.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Release Date: May 10
What’s Exciting About It: The first live-action Pokemon film + Ryan Reynolds

With Pokémon being one of the biggest media franchises in the world, it is surprising that there hasn’t been a live-action film so far. This film is here to make it a reality with Ryan Reynolds voicing the cuddly hardened yellow detective who helps a young boy find his missing father.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Release Date: May 17
What’s Exciting About It: Halle Berry joins the cast

John Wick reminded us that Keanu Reeves still has what it takes to be an action hero and the sequel (which remained equally impressive) reinforced it. Now, he’s ready to prove it again as his character faces a bounty of $14 million on his head. He will seek the help of an assassin we haven’t seen before – Sofia – who is played by Halle Berry.

Aladdin

Release Date: May 24

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Release Date: May 31
What’s Exciting About It: Ginormous monsters

Sometimes when it comes to summer blockbusters, the bigger the villains and the higher the destruction, the more are the box office returns. Godzilla: King of the Monsters seems to follow that formula with god-sized monsters – Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah – who battle it out on Earth.

Rocketman

Release Date: May 31
What’s Exciting About It: Elton John played by a Kingsman

A musical biopic along the lines of last year’s hit Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman has the role of Elton John being played by Taron Egerton – known for playing Eggsy in the Kingsman films. The actor happens to have a surprisingly great singing voice (that he demonstrated in the aptly titled film, Sing) and seems to have sung the songs in this film himself.

Dark Phoenix

Release Date: June 7
What’s Exciting About It: A long-awaited X-Men film

There had been talks about a Dark Phoenix film since as early as 2014 when X-Men: Days of the Future Past had released. The film had been in development since 2017 and though it was originally supposed to release last year, it was postponed to 2019 and we hope to finally see Jean Grey’s story this June.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Release Date: June 7
What’s Exciting About It: An all-ages animated comedy

Illumination (the studio behind Despicable Me and Minions) had another hit in its hands with The Secret Life of Pets. The film, which explored the life of pets after the owners went away, focused on a dog named Max and his friends. They’ve taken a new approach for marketing the sequel by releasing a bunch of trailers focusing on different characters instead of a single unified trailer.

Men in Black: International

Release Date: June 14
What’s Exciting About It: An unexpected reboot + a great cast

Nobody was expecting a Men in Black reboot (although there were brief talks about a crossover with 21 Jump Street), and when it was revealed that the Thor: Ragnarok duo Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson would be in the lead, it was an even bigger surprise. The film also stars Liam Neeson, making the main cast a fabulous trio.

Toy Story 4

Release Date: June 21
What’s Exciting About It: The sequel we didn’t know we needed

When Toy Story 3 came out in 2010, it seemed like a glorious end to Pixar’s best franchise. It was tearful, heart-warming, and we had accepted its end. But then, Pixar surprised us with the news of Toy Story 4, which from the trailers, seems to be as exceptional as the other films.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Release Date: July 5
What’s Exciting About It: Europe + Jake Gyllenhaal

Spider-Man has always been a New York City superhero, but now we’ll get to see him in Europe. As Peter heads on a school trip, he realizes that his crime-fighting skills are needed yet again. This film also has a new actor joining the MCU – Jake Gyllenhaal is playing Mysterio in the film, who might be a supervillain or a superhero.

The Lion King

Release Date: July 19
What’s Exciting About It: The cast

The Lion King is the film with the biggest star cast of 2019, even though they’re all only doing voices. Not quite live-action, but rather mostly CGI, this Lion King adaptation stars all the biggest names in not just Hollywood but the entertainment industry and includes everyone from Beyoncé to Rowan Atkinson to Donald Glover.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

Release Date: July 26
What’s Exciting About It: Everything

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is one of the biggest films not just of summer, but of 2019. It’s directed by Quentin Tarantino and revolves around the Charles Manson murders. This also happens to be the first film co-starring two Hollywood legends – Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio – and is DiCaprio’s first film after winning an Oscar for The Revenant.

Hobbs and Shaw

Release Date: August 2
What’s Exciting About It: The crazy story

The Fast and Furious franchise has upped its ante with every passing film. Now, we have a Fast and Furious spin-off starring two of the series’ biggest stars – Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham – facing off against a superhuman (yes, you read that right) played by Idris Elba.

Please note that all the release dates mentioned for 2019 summer blockbusters are for the US release and the release dates in India are tentative.

But this time, there’s going to be a new ‘toy’ called Forky joining the gang on a road trip of a lifetime.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

After Despicable Me and its spin-off movies, The Secret Life of Pets was one of Illumination’s biggest hits. Now, Max (Patton Oswalt) is here for more hijinks with his neighbors – the cat Chloe (Lake Bell) and the rabbit Snowball (Kevin Hart).

The Angry Birds Movie 2

It’s not easy to make a movie out of a video game, but The Angry Birds Movie accomplished that and even went on to become a huge box office hit. In 2019, the sequel is scheduled to release with the old cast reprising their roles with Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Danny McBride as Bomb, Bill Hader as Leonard, and Peter Dinklage as Mighty Eagle.

The Addams Family

Frozen 2

Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and Olaf (Josh Gad) are returning for the sequel which is already expected to be a huge box office hit. The trailer shows that the film might take a more serious turn this time around, but there are not many details known about Frozen 2 at the moment.

The Wife: Film Review – A Close Look At An Overlooked Better Half

Verdict: Glenn Close elevates this drama with her skilled performance.

Adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name by Meg Wolitzer, The Wife is directed by Björn Runge. The film has been nominated for the Best Actress at the Oscars and it’s one of the many Oscar releases coming to theaters in India. This film isn’t just a drama but a detailed character study that probes deeper into the life of a couple where the husband receives all the attention and the wife is often overlooked despite her contributions, which are not the garden variety contributions you may imagine.

What’s The Wife About:

When Joseph Castleman (Jonathan Pryce) receives a call from the Nobel committee, he insists that his wife, Joan (Glenn Close), hear the news with him. He is being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his significant contributions to the field and it seems like his life couldn’t be happier, but this makes his wife question her choices in life. They fly to Sweden with their son (Max Irons), who is also an aspiring writer. But Joe’s success has also made Nathanial Bone (Christian Bone) even more intent on becoming his biographer and dig deeper to find juicy secrets about the Castlemans – secrets that might break apart their family.

What Works:

The Wife is entirely driven by performances and it’s Glenn Close who stands out above the rest with her incredibly nuanced portrayal of a complicated woman. There are moments where she holds your attention even without saying much. The dialogue is used sparingly to highlight what the couple’s real problems are and it’s left up to you to see it unfold through telling scenes where the actors are given room to shine.

The rest of the cast also fit in perfectly in their roles. Jonathan Pryce also gives a noteworthy performance as a man who can be charming and hold the spotlight in front of others despite being full of flaws. Max Irons plays the son hungry for his father’s attention with conviction. Christian Slater is also excellent as the biographer, especially when it comes to masking his true intentions so it’s never clear whether he should be trusted or not. There are even a few flashbacks in the film which show the couple’s younger years and how they came together which feature Harry Lloyd as a younger Joe and Close’s daughter, Annie Starke, as a younger version of Joan, which adds more depth to the characters.

The Wife’s story takes a few interesting turns as well, and when the revelation comes, you may find yourself thinking about what you would do in a similar situation.

What Could’ve Been Better:

The film focuses on establishing characters which makes it a bit slow but as you get to know more about the characters, the pace helps you appreciate the little details that you wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.

Why You Should Watch:

The Wife is a must-watch for Glenn Close. Even though she has been in the industry for more than 40 years, she has only received six other nominations and no wins at the Academy Awards. This film has already got Glenn Close a Golden Globe for Best Actress and she might finally win an Oscar for this role.

The Live-Action Aladdin Shifts Away From The Original To Create A Whole New World

Director: Guy Ritchie
Writers: Guy Ritchie, John August
Cast: Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Will Smith, Navid Neghaban, Marwan Kenzari, Billy Magnussen
Release Date: 24 May 2019

Disney is currently remaking some of their best-known animated classics as CGI and live-action adaptations and Aladdin is the one that is grabbing the most attention. While the other two  Disney adaptations releasing this year – Dumbo and The Lion King – will feature CGI’d animals as main characters, Aladdin’s main cast is all human, making it harder to cast actors who would closely resemble the original animated characters. Nevertheless, Disney has searched far and wide to find the perfect cast to create a more culturally sensitive film than the original.

The main cast is comprised of actors from Arabian, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Southern Asian descents. Aladdin is being played by Mena Massoud who is an Egyptian-Canadian actor. Before this, you may have seen him in the series Jack Ryan as Tarek Kassar. Naomi Scott, a Caucasian-Indian actress, will be portraying Jasmine. She is known for playing the Pink Ranger in the 2017 Power Rangers film and will also be seen in the remake of Charlie’s Angels later this year.

While the lead couple appears to have the same look as the animated film, it’s with the other actors that the filmmakers have decided to experiment. Instead of being an elderly crone like in the original, the villain Jafar is being played by the 36-year-old Dutch-Tunisian actor Marwan Kanzari, who had small roles in The Murder on the Orient Express and The Mummy. Instead of the blue, vaguely-person shaped spirit, Genie now looks more life-like and is being played by Will Smith. From the new special look, it seems like Will Smith won’t be trying to fit into the shoes of Robin Williams who had previously voiced the character. In an interview, director Guy Ritchie mentioned that he was going for a muscular 1970s dad look for Genie and Will Smith confirmed that his Genie will stand out. The actor has taken inspiration for his character from his 1990s roles in Independence DayBad Boys, and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Meanwhile, the role of Sultan is being played by an Iranian-American actor Navid Negahban, who has played enigmatic villains in the shows Homeland and Legion. He hasn’t been seen in the trailers yet, but it won’t be a surprise if this Sultan is also quite different from the portly jolly Sultan we know from the animated version.

There is also a new addition – Prince Anders – played by the American actor Billy Magnussen who has previously played a similar role in the musical comedy, Into The Woods. Aladdin’s pet monkey, Abu, is also seen in the new special look trailer and there are rumors that he will be voiced by Frank Welker who had voiced Abu in the animated film. Even Iago is rumored to be voiced by the original voice actor for the character – Gilbert Gottfried – but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Guy Ritchie is known to have a particular style when it comes to directing – thrillers with fast-paced chases, witty humor, and wildly planned heists. With this being a Disney film, it will be interesting to see how his signature style transforms the characters we know. It’s going to be an interesting film but we’ll have to wait and find out whether it’s going to be a blockbuster like the adaptations of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part: Film Review – It’s More Awesome

Verdict: A delightful adventure filled with clever comedy and infectious positivity.

In 2014, The Lego Movie unexpectedly turned toys into a successful blockbuster, which kickstarted a franchise. Five years later, it makes a charming return with The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, with Mike Mitchell taking over the director’s chair.

What’s The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part About:

Duplo invaders have turned Bricksburg into Apocalypseburg, with all the residents turned into grittier, tougher versions of themselves. Well, all of them except for Emmett (Chris Pratt), who still listens to the teeny bop version of ‘Everything is Awesome’ every day and greets sewer babies, Chainsaw Dave, and others with a smile. But when General Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz) arrives and kidnaps Emmett’s friends – Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett), Unikitty (Alison Brie)MetalBeard (Nick Offerman), and Benny (Charlie Day), he has to toughen up and rescue them with the help of Rex Dangervest (also voiced by Chris Pratt). Together, they have to prevent the marriage of Systar System’s suspicious Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi (Tiffany Haddish) and Batman, which Emmett believes will bring about something called ‘Armamageddon’.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part Film Review - BookMyShow Blog

What Works:

In The Lego Movie, it was revealed that everything that happened in Bricksburg was actually happening in the real world where Finn (Jadon Sand) and his father (Will Ferrell) were playing with Lego bricks. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part builds upon this, with the real world conflict happening between Finn and his sister, Bianca (Brooklynn Prince) who keeps trying to play with Finn’s Legos using her wacky Duplo figures and their mom (Maya Rudolph) having to struggle to keep them from fighting. We get flashes of the real world inventively worked into what’s happening within the Lego world.

The genius of the script by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (who had written and directed the first film, but only writing it this time around) is on full display. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part takes many inventive turns, has clever dialogues, and is made in a way that audiences of all ages can enjoy. There’s also a message geared towards kids and it’s something adults can find inspiring too.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part also turns everything up a notch. Not only are there catchier songs (a song is literally named ‘Catchy Song‘ whose lyrics go – This song’s gonna get stuck inside your head) but there is also more humor, more mayhem, more cameos, and more pop-culture references. Even the credits are rolled to more Lego animation and a self-referential song that will want to make you stay till the end.

What Could’ve Been Better:

While it isn’t an unexpectedly groundbreaking film like The Lego Movie, the sequel manages to exceed your expectations and have you entertained in a way that leaves you wanting for more.

Why You Should Watch:

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is a film everyone who is old enough to play Legos (and that includes the adults) will love. You don’t even need to have seen the first film to enjoy this one. It is a colorful blast of high-energy fun that will have you leaving the theater feeling upbeat, just like Emmett.
