Sonu Nigam’s Mimicry Skills Are Legendary

At the tender age of three, when most of us are not even able to drink a glass of water without spilling it, Sonu Nigam did something that would change his life forever. The little boy went up on the stage and sang ‘Kya Hua Tera Vaada’ with his father. From here started the journey of Bollywood’s legendary singer Sonu Nigam who has given Bollywood several chartbusters since the late 1990s. Not to forget the sizzling pop numbers like Tu, Deewana, Ab Mujhe Raat Din, Bijuria, Kajra Nights and so on.

His good looks combined with amazing vocals have already spread magic. At this height of success, it is usually common to find other artists mimicking you. But Sonu Nigam does the exact opposite. One of his many talents for which he needs a thunderous applause is his mimicry of other well-known singers and artists.

Here are his four best mimicry acts which we are sure you will enjoy.

1. This hilarious video will not just make you appreciate the humor quotient of Sonu Nigam but also make you wonder how on Earth can he imitate so many different artists with such great finesse. From A. R. Rahman to Himesh Reshammiya, the singer spares no one.

2. Watch the video to see how Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu perform the Titanic track. Be ready to ROFL.

3. Now did you know that Sonu Nigam can comfortably imitate the legendary female singer Asha Bhosle? Watch this video and let us know what you think about it.

4. Usha Uthup is no ordinary singer and to imitate that powerful, unique voice is no cakewalk. But watch Sonu Nigam do it effortlessly with the singer herself beside him.

October: Film Review – Poignant and Soul Stirring

Verdict: Varun Dhawan’s endearing act will make you fall in love with him.

One of the most bankable actors in Bollywood today, Varun Dhawan surprised everyone in the trailer of October. A departure from his typical Bollywood masala films, October stars Varun Dhawan as a hotel management intern with a reckless and cynical attitude till time gets the better of him. Directed by the much acclaimed Shoojit Sircar, who has treated us with great works like Vicky Donor, Piku and Madras Cafe in the past, get ready for visually rich cinematography coupled with what today’s films often lack – soul.

What’s October about:

Everything is simple in the movie, except the flow of emotions. The movie is about a group of friends who are interning at Hotel Radisson Blu. Dan (Dhawan) is clumsy, straightforward and often finds himself at the receiving end of his manager, Asthana. But his friends Manjeet (Sahil Vedoliyaa), Ishaani and Shiuli (Banita Sandhu) always come to his rescue. The introductory scene will remind you of the montage-like shots of Piku, and will run you through the lives of those in the hospitality sector with great finesse. Before you see any love blossoming between the lead characters, except for a couple of casual conversations, an untoward incident changes the lives of everyone, especially Dan and Shiuli. The rest of the movie takes you through the metamorphosis of Dan and his perspective towards life as he creates an unusual bond with Shiuli and her family.

What works:

The cinematography in Shoojit’s films has always been of superior quality. The poetic nature of the scenes lets you delve into the lives of the characters and experience all those unsaid emotions. The movie may not boast of iconic dialogues but a few will actually tug at your heart, leaving you overwhelmed. Dhawan, with his childlike innocence, is loveable throughout and delivers a nuanced yet powerful performance. The debutant Banita will leave you teary-eyed in certain scenes and surely knows how to make the audience completely empathetic towards her character. Lastly, the music by Shantanu Moitra is soothing yet melancholic at the same time. And it is this beauty of the melancholy that will make you find a connection with the film and its characters.

What could have been better:

While everything else – right from the cinematography to the film’s climax – fell in place, we wish we could have seen more of the chemistry between the lead actors. And for the impatient ones, the director could have done away with a couple of scenes that might seem repetitive.

Why you should watch:

If you are a true lover of cinema, you need to catch the movie in the nearest theatre today. Aren’t you tired of the typical love stories? Try Shoojit Sircar’s new approach towards love and we bet, you will love it. Special mention to Dhawan’s impeccable performance. To all his fans, you have nothing to lose. Go for it.

If you were one of the lucky ones to watch Arjun Kanungo perform live at the famed Hard Rock Café yesterdayyou'd know what we're talking about.

Hate Story IV: Film Review – Vengeance Is Hers

Verdict: Served bold and cold, this revenge saga will leave you thrilled.

The Hate Story franchise is back again with their fourth film and it hits the right spot. Just like its predecessors, Hate Story IV, too, boasts of mesmerizing music with equally enchanting intimate scenes in the background. This time, the makers have brought unique cast members together, comprising of Urvashi Rautela, Vivan Bathena, Karan Wahi and Ihana Dhillon

What’s Hate Story IV About:

This revenge saga is about two brothers Aryan (Vivan Bhatena), and Rajveer Khurrana (Karan Wahi), sons of a business tycoon in England, who perceive women as objects of pleasure and thus, in the end, lose everything. Both want one girl – Tasha (Urvashi Rautela) – and in the desire to win her, go to extreme lengths. But Tasha holds a big secret and is not really what she appears to the world.

Hate Story

What Works:

Fans of the franchise have everything they would want in the movie; oodles of hotness, bold scenes, thrill factor, pretty faces and hot bods. Vivan Bathena looks hot and has pulled off a decent performance. Karan Wahi’s innocent looks are bound to charm you and the fans of the actor would love to see him as the bad boy. The lead actress Urvashi Rautela looks pretty in every frame and her attempts to do justice to her character have more or less succeeded. The music is the film’s stronghold and will leave you intoxicated, be it the romantic number Tum Mere Ho or the steamy remake of Aashiq Banaya Aapne

What Could Have Been Better:

The story becomes a bit predictable at one point and therefore the thrill factor may take a dip. Also, we would have loved to see more of the bad man, Gulshan Grover.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

Lovers of mystery, intrigue, and vengeance, book your tickets right now. The steamy chemistry between the leads is enough to get everyone excited about this film. Also, if you are someone who is a fan of Mithoon and Tanishk Bagchi’s music, there is no better plan for you this weekend.

Hate Story 4 Reminds Us of These 9 Erotic Thrillers

Erotic thriller is a relatively new concept in Bollywood that has not been explored in depth, thanks to India’s never-ending list of sanskaars. You either need to watch it with your friends or your significant other. Watching these films with parents can have disastrous consequences. Though Bollywood still has a long way to excel in this genre, we have time and again seen Bollywood thrillers with a lot of skin show, grabbing eyeballs instantly.

With Hate Story 4 releasing tomorrow – one of the few films that fall into the category – we are reminded of these 9 other erotic thrillers:

#1. Hate Story Series

These revenge sagas are one of the most popular franchises of this genre.

#2. Murder Series

Out of all films in this franchise, nothing beats Murder. How can we forget the sizzling chemistry of Mallika Sherawat and Emraan Hashmi in the first movie?

#3. Julie Series

Julie showed us the predicaments in the life of a call girl who falls in love with a multimillionaire.

#4. Jism

Bipasha as the femme fatale in Jism was one of the film’s highlights, besides her steamy chemistry with then-beau John Abraham.

#5. Kalyug

Based on the murky deals within a pornographic industry, Kalyug was Kunal Khemu’s debut as an adult actor.

#6. Tum – A Dangerous Obsession

This is the kind of film that has inspired Saavdhaan India to come up with creepy and disgusting episodes.

#7. Wajah Tum Ho

With a very convoluted plot revolving around a murder case, this film is apt for those who love movies with a hundred twists and turns.

#8. Zid

We bet you cannot predict the climax of this erotic thriller. The film’s plot, though interesting, fell flat while execution.

#9. Aksar Series

The Aksar series got a reboot recently with Aksar 2 coming out. While maintaining the thrill factor, they also upped the erotic factor.

Which one of the above movies did you truly enjoy the most? Let us know in comments below.

Gulabjaam: Film Review – Sonali Kulkarni Will Win Your Heart

Verdict: A sweet-sour concoction of emotions (and food) you should not miss!

Two time National Award-winning director Sachin Kundalkar has yet again mixed all the ingredients perfectly to give us a memorable film. There are certain underlying elements in Sachin’s films like the backdrop of the city of Pune, emphasis on individuality, the conflict between modernity and traditionalism. All this can be seen in Gulabjaam, but here's what will win your heart – Sonali Kulkarni’s flawless performance.

What's Gulabjaam about:

The story is simple. Aditya (Siddharth Chandekar), a Maharashtrian living in London, wants to fulfill his childhood dream of being a chef. He comes all the way to Pune to learn cooking from an eccentric woman, Radha (Sonali Kulkarni), who initially is not very hospitable, slowly begins to open us thus taking the guru-shishya relationship to a new level altogether. Just like the ingredients of a dish, the several elements in the lives of both come together to give experiences they never thought they would ever have.

What works:

Food and memories are integral aspects of this film and both have been played upon beautifully. The zoomed in shots of the several Maharashtrian delicacies is sure to make you hungry and hijack your gaze. However, the stronghold of Gulabjaam has to be Sonali Kulkarni’s effortless yet heart-wrenching performance. Being tough at one moment and vulnerable at the next is never easy for a character but Sonali has nailed it with finesse. Also, if you are a Maharashtrian, there is a lot to take away once the film is over.

What could have been better:

The climax was a bit unpredictable, which works both ways. Apart from that, the pace of the film could have been faster in the second half.

Why you should watch Gulabjaam:

To witness how food can be a metaphor for all that goes in our lives. For Maharashtrians, there will many moments that will transport you to your childhood days and remind you of the heavenly taste of the local delicacies. Others, watch it to witness Sonali Kulkarni’s powerful yet effortless performance. Book now!

Nirdosh: Film Review – A Perfect Erotic Suspense For The Weekend

Verdict: A whodunit that will leave you scratching your head.

This Friday is amazing for all suspense lovers as there’s not one not two but three murder mysteries for you to solve in the theatre screens near you. While Vodka Diaries and My Birthday Song (read the reviews here) boast of actors like Kay Kay Menon and Sanjay SuriNirdosh marks the return of Arbaaz Khan and stars Manjari PhadnisAshmit PatelMaheck Chahal and Mukul Dev.

What's Nirdosh About:

The movie is a whodunit wherein a media professional – Shinaya (Manjari Phadnis) – is the prime suspect in the murder of a chauvinistic, abusive and licentious man named Rana, brilliantly played by Mukul Dev. After the brutal murder, the police takes Shinaya into custody where she is interrogated by a brash and ruthless Crime Branch officer, Lokhande (Arbaaz Khan). The turning point of the film comes when an affair between Shinaya’s husband Gautam (Ashmit Patel) and her paying guest Ada (Maheck Chahal) is revealed. Ada is an aspiring actress and model, who is also super hot and eyed by almost the entire society. When Gautam confesses to the crime, officer Lokhande finds himself in a fix. The rest of the film takes viewers through the ‘if’ and ‘how’ game to find the real murderer

What Works:

Mukul Dev gives a fantastic performance and will make you feel all the creeps when he is on the screen. He is natural and fits the role perfectly. Maheck Chahal is impressive as the sexy seductress. To watch Arbaaz Khan in a novel role as the police cop compared to the characters he is mostly offered is refreshing. Both the ladies Mahek and Manjari light up the screen with their beauty. The writers did a commendable job with respect to the story's build up. It will definitely make you scratch your heads and try to guess who the killer is by analyzing all probabilities.

What could have been better:

While the film keeps you engaged, the shock factor towards the end could have been a bit stronger.

Why you should watch this movie:

If murder mysteries excite you, then Nirdosh is definitely a one-time watch. The film successfully builds curiosity in the minds of audiences. Also, watch it for the raw and impressive performance delivered by Mukul Dev.
