Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar: Film Review – Morals v/s Politics

Verdict: An entertaining portrayal of how a good cause gets lost in twisted politics.

India has been ruled by many rulers, and every region has an iconic figure the people of the particular place feel passionately about. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is one such personality in Maharashtra. For his bravery and social work, people still remember him and think highly of him. For some, he is nothing short of being a divine figure. And this is exactly what Nanasaheb (Jitu Joshi) thinks of Shivaji Maharaj. He has nothing but respect and admiration for the ruler. He firmly believes he was born to do something great in his life so he could make his ancestors and Shivaji Maharaj proud. And that’s how the story of Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar begins.

By nature, Nanasaheb is shy but with the support from his friends/assistants, Panda (Aniket Vishwasrao) and Shiva (Akshay Tanksale), and villagers, he gets elected as the Sarpanch of the village. Nanasaheb dreams of contributing towards the development of his and neighboring villages by beautifying and maintaining Shivaji Maharaja’s fort. He already has created a blueprint in his mind. All he has to do now is get deep into politics by becoming a MLA to achieve his goals.

Nanasaheb with his friends then come up with a bizarre idea to rise up the political ladder that as improbable as it may seem deserves a shot according to him. A trip to the UK follows and so do a bundle of other complications for Nanasaheb.

The story of Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar isn't the most convincing one but it certainly conveys a social message without sounding overtly preachy. Director Hemant Dhome also plays the antagonist, Samsher, in the movie. His face-offs with Nanasaheb in the movie are amusing and they keep you interested in the movie. The bond that’s shown between the Jitu Joshi, Aniket Vishwasrao, and Akshay Tanksale in the movie is simply amazing. Their characters might seem stereotypical to some extent but that just gives this movie its whimsical charm.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar is a light film that concludes with a meaningful message. This funnies keep you entertained and some good songs add to the experience.
