Band Baja Concert: A Performance That Was Classic Yet Contemporary

Music can talk to us in many ways. Most of us have a particular genre of music that we listen to, while some of us just go with the flow. On Friday the 16th, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) witnessed some great Western Classical Fusion. NCPA is a multi-purpose cultural centre in Mumbai which aims to promote and preserve India's heritage of musicdancetheatrefilm and photography. The venue was simply perfect for such a western classical fusion concert.

A young team of professional musicians graced the evening with some of their original music compositions. The concert was named Band Baja and it was more than just band baja. The entire auditorium was packed with classical music lovers and there is no doubt that each one who was present there, had an amazing time. The band consisted of five talented musicians who won the hearts of every single person who was present. This was one of those concerts with a rare combination of tabla and drums together.

Ojas Adhiya was the one who led the entire show and was seen playing the Tabla. Vishal Dhumal was seen playing the keys and was at his best. Manas Kumar swept the audience off their feet with his amazing violin skills. I think I finally got to see one of the best saxophone players live after a long time. I.D Rao left the entire audience speechless when he played the saxophone and flute. It is said that the drummer is the backbone of any band. Last but not the least, Gautam Sharma who was seen play the drums, completely rocked the crowd and won praises for himself and the band.

These five extremely talented guys, presented their original classical fusion music. Ojas Adhiya mentioned during the concert that A.R Rehman has been their inspiration and hence they went on to perform some of his classical numbers as a tribute to him. Amidst of this collaboration of different instruments, the band's strength was their hard work and coordination. Nothing on that given evening could have been any better. The acoustics were brilliant and not to forget that when you have a good sound engineer, half of the battle is won. In short, it was an evening with a complete blend of great music, the passion of each artist and some breathtaking performance.

If you have never been to a classical music concert, I would highly encourage you to go for one and judge yourself. We wish these five artists best for their future concerts, as they entertain us and continue to bring joy in our lives through music.
