Since its inception in the 1930’s, comic books have managed to hook the readers and have managed to form a fan following and genre of its own. Later came the Superheroes and everything changed. Not only, they were popular on paper, they went on to become a great source of entertainment in the form of cartoons and later movies. The first superhero-comic-based movie was Superman and the mole man in 1951. Although it has been almost half a century, the movies didn’t gain popularity till the 90s and 2000s. Now with the big shots like Marvel and DC battling for popularity with grand plotlines which span over a decade, there are bound to be some repetitions when it comes to casting. Hollywood has shown us this – You can either be satisfied with playing a superhero on-screen once or you can live long enough to play more than one superhero. Let’s take a look at some of the stars who have managed to achieve such a feat.
He is Daredevil and he is Batman. Although he was not much loved as the former, he has definitely got it right playing the masked vigilante of Gotham.
His appearance as the Human Torch was quite hot and his transformation to be the shield-wielding American superhero is just as hot and cool at the same time.
She is Cat Woman and Storm, probably two of the strongest women in both the universes (DC and Marvel). She didn’t quite manage to make much noise as Cat but, she did cooked up a storm of appreciation for her role in the X-Men franchise. (please excuse the pun).
Samuel L Jackson
We know him as the very formidable former head of S.H.I.E.L.D. Before that, he was Mr. Glass in the movie The Unbreakable.
The speedster who met a (spoiler) heroic death in Avengers: Age of Ultron is also Dave from the movie Kick-Ass.
She was the Shadowcat in the X-Men franchise and she also played Boltie in the 2010 movie Super.
He is among the few who has been a part of Marvel and DC cinematic universes as Deadpool and Green Lantern. He was the perfect for the role of merc with the mouth but not much as the CGI suited Green Lantern (although the movie is worth watching once).
You have seen him as Superman in Superman Returns and he makes a formidable hero against the villains with his Atom suit in Legends of Tomorrow. Superman Returns was not the best version of the superhero but, he more than made up for it as the goofy-scientist/superhero.
Aren’t they fortunate to play not one but two reel superheroes? Which other actor deserves this second chance? Tell us in the comments below and don’t forget to share.
