Audiences can’t stop talking about ‘Avatar’, with reason, no doubt. This week’s release 3 Idiots will be tough competition though. A movie that will appeal to everyone, it seems to be the best release of the year and will most probably sweep the awards. Two idiots, Raghu (Sharman Joshi) and Farhan (Madhavan), set out on a road trip to find the third, Rancho (Aamir Khan), who disappeared mysteriously after graduation. They are joined by Chatur, a classmate from ICE who seeks Rancho to settle a ten-year old challenge. On the way Farhan reminisces about their time spent in engineering college made exciting and eventful thanks to Rancho. Rancho is a unique personality who doesn’t believe in the rat-race, magnified in the stressful and competitive environment in educational institutes. He has a simple funda "Kaabil banne ke liye padho, kamyaabi khud peecha karegi. "A machine lover, he challenges methods of teaching and learns practically by pursuing his curiosity. He says what he thinks and fears nothing. Thrown out of classes constantly he just walks into another and learns. His room-mates Raghu and Farhan join him in his fun and get carried away ignoring their studies in the bargain. It’s no surprise then that the 3 of them are the least favourite of the college Director of ICE, fondly called Virus (Boman Irani), a science obsessed man who believes in optimum utilization of time. His daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor), falls for Rancho after a couple of interesting encounters. Ragging, pranks, goof-ups, drunken- night fiascos all have you clutching your stomach. At the same time helpless families, pressurized children, student suicides and family confrontations capture the reality of life. Nothing is taken too seriously in the film as poverty, saving a dying father or breaking engagements are all shot and played out in a lighter mood without taking away from the gravity of the situation. Rancho teaches his two roomies the importance of doing what one loves. Always concerned about others and a true friend, he shows them direction in life, encouraging them to follow their hearts without hesitation and live life on their own terms. In the 4 years spent together Rancho helps make pivotal changes in their life. During their search for Rancho, the two of them encounter puzzling questions which when resolved multiply their respect for him. On the way, they also snatch Pia from her wedding and continue on the crazy trail finally leading to an incredible climax! The movie is flawless. An incredible story supported by a brilliant cast, it flows smoothly. Scenes are entwined effortlessly and shot in a refreshing manner. It’s a laugh riot but be ready for brimming eyes as well. There are some scenes which will tug hard on your emotions. There is never a dull moment or loss of tempo. The situations and ideas are completely new and never seen before. Rancho voices what we all know but don’t have the guts to practice, its being happy that matters in life, not the money. Sometimes the most brilliant people are called idiots just because they follow their own path rather than the ways of the world. The movie hall resounded with whistles at regular intervals and everyone walked out with a huge smile on their face. Follow your heart and you will always be happy [rating:4] Contributed by Raashi Malhotra

Keep it Short and Simple (KISS), the lovely message for Educational system has been excellently portrayed by Rajkumari Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. We were waiting for the sequel of ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ but ‘3 Idiots’ is definitely a step ahead. It is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book, ‘Five Point Someone’. The intelligent comic style of the book and film writer and director is commendable. And that too a Hollywood style on a commercial film is worth mentioning.

Story Idea – It is a story based on true friendship. Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan) and Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi) are in search of their engineering college (modeled after IIT) room-mate, Rancho or Ranncchoddas Shamalaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) accompanied by Pia (Kareena Kapoor) when a geek Chatur Ramalingam (Omi Vaidya) after 10 years brings them together after being ‘made fun of’ in college (as a flashback). Rancho is actually the genius and the famous scientist, Phunsuk Wangdu. Chatur is left feeling stupid at the end of the film. What a strong bond of friendship is depicted between the ‘3 idiots’ despite the Director of the College, ViruS (Boman Irani) efforts to separate them.

The best scenes of the films are college ragging, Chatur’s speech in college and the baby delivery scène by a vacuum cleaner and simple electronic gadgets. The story idea is a sure success. The story reminds me of Tarachand Barjatya’s, ‘Dosti’ released in 1964 and the revolutionary ideas being introduced by Cabinet Minister for HR, Science & Technology, Mr. Kapil Sibal in the field of education. The story also promotes secularism (Hindu-Muslim unity) as the friends come from different religions.

The movie is without an interval with entertainment, drama, emotions, romance all in one. All the actors have done complete justice to their roles. The entire crowd in the cinema hall laughed to tears, which was a rare sight after years. It is a movie of the changing Bollywood style of film-making.

such a nice movie.it has been truly said”don’t be in the rat race, instead follow your passion.”run after excellence and success will run after you.
sometimes the pressure is so high….
    the hours are so long….
    the problems so big….
the whole world seems to be against you….
do u know what should u do?
    act silly
don’t listen to the ones who make u feel depressed.
    ignore ur problems
    do what u enjoy
make time for the things u love
    leave ur fears aside
    be a bit ridiculous
fight for perfection………but not to exhaustion.
    and the most important……
    LIFE doesn’t end today….
    and doesn’t start tomorrow
    don’t stop!!
each minute of stress is wasted time.
a little madness and a little imagination ,so u can see life better than usual!!
    And don’t forget
smile!in life everything is nicer when u cheer up.
and yes when in tension-put ur hand on heart and say”ALL IZZ WELL”

The movie is as good as it was talked about. It reached and exceeded all the expectations.

The story line is quite simple, live life as it comes, dont try and dig into the complexity of life’s problems.
It is as dramatic as it has to be in films. We can never imagine a student questioning a professor in his own subject in front of the class, but thats the standard of our education system and we are used to it.
As rightly questioned, where is our education system giving scope for any innovations ?
Are our students coming out with right values or only great packages out of IIT’s and IIM’s ?
But, why am I digging into the problem now, let me just say “All Izz Well” and life will be happier for me…..

If there is some one, who can atleast reach the standards of the great BIG B, its only Aamir Khan!

3 idiots is basically a kind of a movie that you would love to watch with your friends after an excruciatingly tiring day. its a kind of a movie that can bring a smile to your face with its sheer charm. its a kind of a movie that will stay with you long after you leave the cinema.
honestly speaking 3 idiots is not the best movie i’ve seen this year. in fact nothing close to it. the reason why it failed to achieve that standard for me is that the movie was too much into traditional bollywood. an extra noble hero and an extra fussy heroine’s dad and some ridiculously stupid scenes which nevertheless touch your heart and some other reasons like that contribute to it.
the movie could’ve been so much better if it was made more realistic. it so desperately tries to touch your heart and make you weep till theres a lump in your throat and that is what is slapstick. munnabhai series wasnt like that. it just allowed you to be free wioth your emotions and it made u shed an unexpected tear now and then. but this movie is so much desperate. the last twenty minutes of the movie is typically filmy and it adds more clumsiness. these were the bad points in the movie. now coming to the good points i must agree that they over shadow every flaw. aamir khan is so easily the star and the backbone of the movie. 3 idiots wouldntve been half as good as it was without him. he so easily leaps into the character and stays with it in every breath. sharman joshi has a meaty role and he shines as the supporting actor. his comic timing has always been praised and with this one he took it to a whole new level. the humor in the movie is plain and inspiring that you cant help your sides to ache from laughing. there are some gem of scenes which you can never forget in your life. boman irani is versatile as ever and boy, he is a legend. the music in the movie is regular and it doesnt try to achieve new standards. to be frank it plays safe. and its not at all bad.
all in all 3 idiots is a must watch for all the people who are looking for long lasting entertainment. compared to bollywood standards it might be a classic after a few years but in terms of international cinema, its far behind that.
