Bewakoofiyaan: Film Review

Love or money, which matters the most? Nupur Asthana’s Bewakoofiyaan traces the story of Mayera and Mohit. A couple utterly-butterly in love. Don’t be surprised if the movie reminds you of the famous comic characters-Archie and Veronica Lodge.

The movie opens up with Mohit Chaddha (Ayushmann Khurrana) struggling with driving lessons. And what luck, as soon as takes his girlfriend, Mayera’s, name the car just went smoothly. Power of love, Bollywood style! Mayera (Sonam Kapoor) is a successful banker. She loves shopping and is a complete sucker for brands. Starkly opposite from each other, Mohit and Mayera shares a cute and romantic chemistry. In this cute love story, trouble comes in the form of V.K Sehgal (Rishi Kapoor)- dad aka ‘Osama’ of Mayera.

Bewakoofiyaan is an entertaining movie. There is a lovey dovey girl, a cute boy, and an angry old man. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor as the retired government official-V.K Sehgal did a splendid job. His jokes and sarcasm will definitely keep you entertained, if nothing else. Sonam Kapoor looks absolutely stunning. She carried out Mayera’s role quite elegantly. However, same can’t be said about her acting skills, which at times looked completely blunt. Ayushmann Khurrana as Mohit Chaddha could have given a better performance. Somehow we can’t forget the happy-go-lucky Vicky Arora.

The soundtracks of the film are average and not very impressive. We were definitely expecting a lot from the folk musician and singer Raghu Dixit.

Why must you watch this film?
YashRaj films are always a delight to watch. Be it romantic comedies like Bewakoofiyaan or high-octane action film like Dhoom, there is always something for everyone. Bewakoofiyaan is a complete feel-good movie. It celebrates love and the state of being in love.

Head out for a movie date this festive season!
