Verdict: A close look at teenage depression.
The term "Blue Mountains" may take you to a dream location the Rohit Shettys and the Karan Johars of Bollywood might shoot at or even make you think of the mesmerizing Blue Mountains in Australia. This movie, however, has nothing to do with either. Blue Mountains here are compared to dreams that are hard to achieve.
The film revolves around Som (Yatharth Ratnum) who is in school and his ambitions change every weekend. His father (Ranvir Shorey) wants him to study and get a stable job and his mother (Gracy Singh) who was once a very successful and famous singer wants him to pursue his dreams. One day, Som with his group goes to a reality show audition where accidentally Som gives the audition. He gets selected for the next round. Now his mom, who reminisces her singing past thinks that her son will become a famous playback singer and teaches him to sing. Som does pretty well in the competition but gets eliminated before the finals. This defeat makes him depressed and sad and rest is the story of him and the people around trying to get him back to life.
With a cast like Ranvir Shorey, Gracy Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Arif Zakaria and Mahesh Thakur, the film scores decently in terms of performances. There is also a teenage couple who will make you reminisce your old school days. There are a few classical songs in the movie that you might keep humming after the movie.
There is one thing that goes right with the name of the movie, the locations. Apart from a few shots in Mumbai, the entire film is shot at a really pretty hill station. The frame is mostly yellow and green during the first half and then there is snow and snowfall during the second half. It is just beautiful.
Why You Should Watch This Movie:
This movie is a must watch for people who miss drama in their lives and for those who have missed watching any of the recent singing reality shows. You will get the best of both things in this movie. You can also watch it to see the beautiful hill station and snowfall.
