Bollywood Celebs Who Kicked The Butt

Smokers out there know that it is hard to quit smoking. Easier said than done. In fact, many people have tried, struggled and failed, ultimately giving up on quitting, instead of cigarettes. At the end, the cancer-causing stick tends to win the battle against self-control, claiming many lives in the process. Bollywood, too, has its fair share of stars who have been addicted to the butt. Legendary actor Firoz Khan succumbed to lung cancer due to his regular smoking habits. But there are a few stars who have managed to break the mold and given up the habit for good. Take a look at some of these inspiring celebs:

A burnt child dreads the fire. Salman has been extremely health conscious since his nerve ailment, which made him give up his age-old habit of smoking. Way to go, Bhai!
Aamir Khan smoking - BookMyShow 
Aamir’s kids from his first wife constantly badgered their father to give up smoking. Aamir did cut down on cigarettes after their continuous requests, but it was the birth of his third child that made him finally kick the butt.

Ajay also gave up smoking after his family pestered him to do so. Kajol, whose father had suffered a heart attack, was very anxious about her husband’s smoking habit and helped him move past his addiction.

Initially a chain smoker, Saif gave up his habit after he nearly suffered a heart attack. He has been very health conscious since and even gave up drinking. The actor is now an anti-smoking crusader.

A chain smoker in the past, Konkana gave up her habit when she was pregnant with her son. The change in lifestyle during her pregnancy continued after she gave birth and she quit smoking for good.
Hrithik Roshan

The actor has tried many times to quit, with no avail. Finally, it was Alan Carr’s book Easy Way To Stop Smoking that made him give up the habit once and for all.

Ranbir Kapoor

The actor was heavily addicted to smoking, and would take regular breaks during film shoots to smoke. After a friendly bet with Anurag Basu on the sets of Barfi, Ranbir tried to resist the habit, and gave up smoking entirely.
Arjun Rampal

Arjun and his wife Meher both gave up smoking for the sake of their kids. Apparently, he also took the help of the Alan Carr book that Hrithik lent him for the same purpose.

Fardeen Khan

A heavy smoker, Fardeen decided to give up the habit after his father’s demise due to smoking. The actor has been smoke-free since, and now leads a healthy lifestyle.
Vivek Oberoi

Vivek’s excessive smoking was quite apparent on the sets of Shootout at Lokhandwala. Some years later, seeing the plight of patients at a cancer hospital made him kick the butt. He is now an ambassador for World Health Organisation’s anti-smoking movement.
