For many of us, watching a film is an emotional experience as a lot of times we tend to see our personalities reflected onscreen. But not every film has the potential to touch our hearts and move us deeply. How many films can you remember that made you cry bitterly or laugh wholeheartedly? Bollywood has given us a lot of run-of-the-mill films with over-the-top emotions and melodramatic sequences, which definitely won’t make you cry.
But there have been such great moments created by certain films, which not only tugged that sensitive emotion inside us but left a lasting impression. The most recent example can be Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees where I’m sure a lot of you would have cried bitterly watching your favorite actor die onscreen.
If you are unable to recollect any similar films, take a look at the following list of movies with the most iconic climax scenes that can make even a stone-hearted person look out for tissues.
1. Anand (1971)
This is a masterpiece by Hrishikesh Mukherjee that saw one of the best performances from its lead cast – Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. Anand shows us the true essence of living our lives to the fullest. Anand’s death at the end not only leaves his doctor, Bhaskar, in a shock, but even audiences find his death difficult to accept.
This has to be one of the most heart-wrenching climaxes and you cannot help but shed tears looking at Somu’s (Kamal Haasan) desperate attempts to remind Reshmi (Sridevi) of the moments they shared together. We wouldn’t be surprised if you refuse to sit through the entire climax. Reshmi’s indifference to Somu and the latter’s helplessness is a sight one will never want to experience.
Radhe (Salman Khan) though set fashion trends we never want to revisit, also showed us what true love is. The film’s climax will not just make you cry for Bhai but will also make you appreciate his acting skills.
Aamir Khan’s movies always make you contemplate on a lot of things about the society we live in. The movie takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions; the strongest being at the end when the young revolutionaries sacrifice their lives in their yearning for justice.
Be it Bimal Roy’s adaptation of the novel by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay or Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grand picturization of the tragedy, the climax will make you move to the edge of your seat. The nail-biting sequence where you just keep praying for the lovers to unite one last time leaves you devastated and utterly depressed.
Shah Rukh Khan’s performance and Sonu Nigam’s voice created magic in this film. The title track is enough to get you emotional. The climax of Kal Ho Na Ho has definitely gone down in Bollywood’s history as the most sorrowful and distressing. The happy-go-lucky and lively Aman (Shah Rukh Khan) breathing his last made many cry bucketful of tears. The climax will surely haunt you for a long time even after the movie is over.
