Bollywood Gupshup: October 2016

Last month, in Bollywood, the fireworks began way before Diwali. Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar went all out promoting their films to ensure they get a big opening. On Friday, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s collections were higher than that of Shivaay and the trend continued throughout the weekend. In fact, Devgn will most likely lose money as Shivaay, which was made on an extravagant budget, won't be able to recover costs. In that respect, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has already raked in enough money to cover the cost of production. Both these Diwali releases were the talking point in October, but here's what else made headlines.

Padmavati is finally announced

Phew! After all the speculations about the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, it was finally made official that Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor would star in the film. Padmavati, which is based on the life of Rani Padmini, is slated to release on November 17th, 2017.

Takadum to go on floors soon

Homi Adajania's next film Takadum – features Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, and Irrfan Khan. Rajput plays the role of a musician in the movie, which may get delayed as the plot is reportedly similar to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

The two big debuts

Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher made their silver screen debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya. The film sank without a trace but the two actors won praise for their performance. The debacle must have come as a shock to the Kapoor clan as both, Sonam and Anil, did their best to promote the movie.

Befikre trailer launched at the Eiffel Tower

Since the entire film is shot in Paris, the lead actors of BefikreRanveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor – unveiled the trailer in the city itself. The launch event was attended by the Mayor of Paris and as expected, the director, Aditya Chopra was nowhere to be seen.
