Bollywood filmmakers love making sequels to their movies. If the film does decent business and is appreciated by the audience, you can expect for it to be turned into a franchise. Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3, Great Grand Masti, Jai Gangaajal, and Housefull 3 are some such movies released this year. While Prakash Jha couldn't recreate the magic of Gangaajal with the sequel, the sex-comedies – Great Grand Masti and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 – were out of theaters in a week. Housefull 3 though was a blockbuster though and earned more than INR 100 crore at the box-office. This month, three sequels are set to release and you can read more about them here.
Rock On 2
After the success of the first film, Farhan Akhtar announced that a sequel was in the making. However, due to differences between the director of Rock On, Abhishek Kapoor and Akhtar, the project got delayed. Rock On 2 finally hits theaters tomorrow, and Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora are the new faces in the franchise.
John Abraham has promised that the second installment of the Force franchise will be bigger and better. The film, shot in Budapest has some high-octane action sequences featuring the lead actor and the antagonist, played by Tahir Bhasin. Sonakshi Sinha will also be seen performing some stunts in Force 2.
Tum Bin 2
Tum Bin was released in 2001 and starred relatively unknown faces – Sandali Sinha, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Himanshu Malik, and Raqesh Vashisth. The film was a hit and we wonder what took director Anubhav Sinha so long to begin work on the sequel.
Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani 2 was also slated to release this month but to avoid a clash with Dear Zindagi, he moved the film to December 2. Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal are the lead actors of Kahaani 2 and the plot of the film is not based on the previous movie.
