The biggest stars in Bollywood today have been in the movie scene since decades. Amitabh Bachchan made his debut in 1969, while the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Aamir, and Salman – joined the game in the ‘80s and ‘90s. These stars still rule Bollywood and the box office. Most of their contemporaries have moved on; some chose to give up acting, while some careers just fizzled out. Lately, many of these stars are making a comeback. Raveena Tandon’s Maatr released last week, Sridevi is set to return with Mom, and Manisha Koirala will be seen in the upcoming Sanjay Dutt biopic.
We hope that some of our favorite stars from yesteryear follow their lead and return to the big screen. Here’s who we wish to see in the movies again:
The actor was last seen in The Shaukeens in 2014 and then did a small role in the 2015 action flick, Do Chehre. A big star in the ‘90s and ‘00s, Suniel Shetty has now passed on the acting bug to his kids, Athiya Shetty, who will be seen in Mubarakan and Aahan Shetty, who is set to be launched by Salman Khan.
The Dhadkan actress is now focusing on fitness and yoga, leaving her Bollywood career far behind. Her last few appearances in movies have just been cameos in Dishkiyaoon and Dostana. If Shilpa decided to return to the big screen, she’d be giving tough competition to the current actresses. Maybe she can do a movie on healthy living?
Popularly known as Mrs. Funnybones, Twinkle was last seen on Koffee with Karan, in the best episode of the season. She’s funny, witty, and we know she can take on trolls. She was born to be a star. But the actress has not been seen in a Bollywood film since 2001, in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. Meanwhile, her husband, Akshay Kumar, is seen in at least three movies every year.
She left Bollywood, became the first woman to own a cricket team, got married – Preity has been a busy woman. But movies haven’t been in her list of priorities. She was last seen in the 2014 romantic comedy, Happy Ending. Rumors suggest that she is going to make a comeback in Bollywood in the Sunny Deol-starrer, Bhaiyyaji Superhitt.
He last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani in a small role, but Milind Soman has been absent from the movies for a long time. Maybe because he’s busy breaking records all over the world. At the age of 51, Soman already holds titles for being a national level swimmer, running 1,500 km in 30 days, and completing the Ironman challenge in 15 hours. Who needs Bollywood now?
While her siblings, Kareena and Ranbir, are still very much a part of Bollywood’s movie and party scene, Karisma’s acting career has taken a backseat. She was last seen in Vikram Bhatt’s romantic thriller, Dangerous Ishhq, a movie that did not fare too well. Maybe the single mommy is focusing on her family at the moment.
The actress is still very popular in the Bollywood circuit but has disappeared from the movies since 2010. She did a small role in the romantic musical, Nirbaak, in 2014 and a cameo appearance in F.A.L.T.U in 2011. Like Karisma, Sushmita is currently focused on raising her two kids, while taking a break from Bollywood. We hope she makes a comeback too.
