It takes a lot of passion, talent, patience and of course, luck to make it big in the tinsel town where the Kapoors and the Khans rule. While it is a belief that those actors who have been a part of the small screen cannot make it big on the silver screen, here are some examples of the big stars who broke the stereotype by beginning their journey to stardom from the smaller screen:

The first in the list had to be SRK! The King Khan started his acting career with serials like Fauji (1998) and Circus (1989-90). Among the first-ever characters he played on television was the very popular commando Abhimanyu Rai from the TV show Fauji.

One of the most sought-after actors of Bollywood, Pankaj Kapoor started his acting career with shows like B.A.L.L.B, Wah Bhai Wah, Panchvan Savaar, Sahabji Biwiji Ghulamji, Albert’s Bridge and Kanak Di Balli before getting his first break in Shyam Benegal‘s Arohan (1982).
Like father like son. Shahid Kapoor started acting while he was a kid and appeared in a lot of TV commercials like Complan and Pepsi. He also appeared in a music video of the band Aryans before debuting in Ishq Vishk (2003). He can also be spotted as a dancer in the background of a few movies while training with Shiamak Davar.

Our very own Ramji London Waale or Maddy from RHTDM began his career from TV with serials like Banegi Apni Baat (1993-97), Sea Hawks (1997-98) and Ghar Jamai (1997-98).
Best known for his film Fukrey and later Bittoo Boss, the Junooniyat actor entered showbiz with the cult soap Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000-08) and later appeared in a serial called Kaho Na Yaar Hai (2008).
The lead actress from the acclaimed film Vicky Donor began her acting career with TV shows like Chand Ke Paar Chalo (2008-09), Raajkumar Aaryyan (2008) and with her role as Lehar Mathur in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam (2009-10).
