Boss takes over B-town

Rajiv Bhatia’s superfluous acting got him to the stature of Superstar Akshay Kumar, soon making him the Khiladi of Bollywood. Having donned the avatar of Khiladi for the past few decades, Khiladi Kumar once again returns to B-town with the soon-to-release, Boss.

The heartthrob returns to the 70mm screen with yet another South film remake, Boss. The film “Pokkiri Raja” which starred Mammothy, Prithviraj and Shriya Saran was a story of a ruthless cop who often misused his power. To give this cop a tough fight, a kind-hearted gangster rose. Boss runs on pretty much the same lines.

The trailer of the film which was launched on August 27 spells how very akin it is to its remake. But one will also see the traces of Kumar’s previous films acting as a precursor to this film. When you hear the background score and watch the goons flying or a muddy-cyclone-of-sorts forming, you are sure to relate it to Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore and Khiladi 786. With a remake of the song “Apdipode”, the film goes a step ahead to appease the audience. The dialogues –  “Maut ko toh yunhi log badnam karte hai, taqleef toh zindagi deti hai” – used in the trailer are nothing but the good-old dialogues in a new package. Kumar does have a certain style in the film but it is analogous to his previous acts – a crazy-truck driver. The stunts and the action sequences too reiterate the predecessors.

In spite of being monotonous, Kumar retains his charm in the trailer which is likely to attract the masses. Although not impressive, the trailer still leaves a whiff of a masala flick – action, comedy, romance and tragedy.

And when Kumar says, “Boss ka khoon bolta nahin kholta hai aur jab yeh kholta hai toh yeh boss ek, ek ko phodta hai”, one can only wait for October 16, the release of the film and for the Box Office numbers to decide how very fantastic Boss really will be!
