We have all come to know and love Brendan Fraser from the Mummy Trilogy in which he played the role of the American explorer Rick O’Connell. He has also appeared in the 1997 comedy George of the Jungle, and an under-appreciated film Inkheart (2007), based on the children's book series by Cornelia Funke. Fraser has been a part of several Hollywood movies over the years in some way or the other, since his debut in the 90s. But here’s something that you might have missed – the actor is going to be venturing into the Bollywood scene with an upcoming crime thriller, The Field.
Fraser was in Mumbai earlier this year for the shooting of the movie, which was earlier going to be set in a foreign location but eventually shifted to India due to budget concerns. Fraser considers Bollywood to be a thriving film industry, big enough to rival Hollywood. Brendan Fraser loved the script when he first read it, and was immediately on board for the film.
Though Fraser has been under the radar for the past few years, we hope that his role in this Bollywood venture is a sign of more great performances from the actor.
The movie is about a warring mafia family set in Delhi. It is directed by Rohit Karn Batra, and also stars Ronit Roy, Vishesh Chachra and Prem Chopra.
