Seldom do we see a musician of this pedigree, aclaim and sheer greatness. One look at Buddy Guy’s amazing repertoire, and you know that this is what legends are made of. If you don’t know who Buddy Guy is (which is a shame by the way), this is what you are missing out on:
George “Buddy” Guy made a splash in the early `60s when he moved to Chicago. Over time, with several recording contracts and live performances, Buddy Guy created a niche for himself, combining rock and roll elements with blues. Today, he is considered the best guitarist alive and has inspired the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Buddy Guy is also known for blending traditional tunes with modern styles and has successfully collaborated with kings of the genre such as Little Walter and Howlin Wolf as well as Rolling Stones.
With every track of his, Buddy Guy tells a story. Here is one of his all-time classics, The Way You Been Treating Me. The sweet guitar notes and his amazing voice just take blues to a whole new level.
Also, listening to him unplugged is pure heaven! Watch him pay tribute to his former band-mate and Blues legend, Muddy Waters.
What sets Buddy Guy apart is his humble nature. The veteran artist will soon be awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the GRAMMYs. When he heard the news, all he had to say was, "Whenever I accept an award like this, I do it for all the Blues men and women who came before me and never got the recognition they truly deserved."
Check out this video to see what we mean. He is performing here with two of the finest musicians in the world, B.B. King and Eric Clapton. Now notice, how at 03:37, he goes on tell the audience that he wants to go on all night. He then proceeds to ask the other two artists to hit him with their best tunes. Man, what a legend!
So book your tickets for Mahindra Blues Festival now and don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Buddy Guy performing live! The festival will also bring together other revered artists from India and abroad. It’s time to let loose with the Blues, baby!
