Crisp, to-the-point, and almost as beautiful as the bold topic of the film – discrimination at work on the basis of gender. Myntra and Anouk have created a two-minute long film that brings into focus this social bias.
Shaheen played by Radhika Apte is a pregnant employee who faces discrimination at her workplace because of her pregnancy. Her boss, Uma played by Shernaz Patel compliments her saying, "Nice jacket, lovely color. It almost hides your bump". Tired of the on-going bias, she finally confronts her with confidence and a strong resolve.
Both the ladies deliver splendid performances, and in a short span of time show us that pregnancy isn’t and shouldn’t be treated as a handicap. The script is brief and tries to take the issue by its horns; It manages to get the message across. Even though the product plug is quiet blatant, the social message overshadows the marketing and you are left with the aftertaste of the issue rather than just the azure hues of the jacket.
Maybe they haven’t shattered the glass ceiling with this short film, but they have definitely managed to raise yet another issue and bring it into the limelight. Watch the short film here:
