Shakespeare once said, “What’s in a name?”. A lot, apparently. Bollywood is a funny place, where actors and actresses have changed their names countless times, mostly at the behest of their beloved numerologists, in the hope that adding an extra letter will give their career a much-needed boost. While the change of spelling or an entirehave helped a few land a few hits at the box office, some haven’t been that fortunate yet. Highly debatable, the practice of numerology isn’t exactly reliable. Apart from numerology, there is one more thing we can’t understand – why these actors won’t learn to act better and save us the Google search to confirm the spelling of their names?
Ayushman Khurana aka Ayushmann Khurrana
The VJ-turned-actor has a massive fan following in Bollywood. Making a stellar debut with Shoojit Sircar‘s Vicky Donor, the actor changed his name from Ayushman Khurana to Ayushmann Khurrana. While we don’t mind it, it hasn’t done much for the actor, who’s had just about an okay run at the BO.
Ritesh Deshmukh aka Ritiesh Deshmukh
The Ek Villain star also changed his name recently. After an assistant director on his film insisted that he change it, citing numerology, the actor went ahead with the change. With that being said, the name change did bring him a small measure of success.
Govind Arun Ahuja aka Govinda
The biggest phenomenon of the 90s, the master of pelvic thrusts also changed his name from Govind Arun Ahuja to Govinda. A believer in the practice of numerology, the actor found massive success after he changed his name.
Jimmy Shergill aka Jimmy Sheirgill
While some have found success after altering their names, some haven’t. Jimmy Sheirgill is one of those who haven’t. After consulting reputed astrologer Bhavikk Sangghvi, the Punjabi actor added an “I” to his last name.
Vivek Oberoi aka Viveik Oberoi
Quickly becoming one of the most hated actors after his spat with Salman Khan, Viveik Oberoi couldn’t do much when his ran out of luck with his movies. He, of course decided to add an inexplicable ‘i’.to his name. However, fortunes didn’t really turn favorable for Vivek/Viveik. who has been slammed for most of his recent movies.
Tushar Kapoor aka Tusshar Kapoor
His sister and father are known to be strong believers in numerology and have changed their names accordingly. Needless to say, Tusshar followed in their footsteps. The actor, who was previously called Tushar, added an extra “S” to his first name, for good luck. It hasn’t worked yet.
