Chashme Baddoor, which released in 1981 is a timeless classic and constantly rated among the best comedies made in India. Over time, a number of filmmakers have found much inspiration from this movie and Chashme Baddoor releasing this Friday, is certainly going to be a heartfelt tribute to the previous one. The quirkiness and fun of Chashme Buddoor (1981) was so infectious that when this film came out, it became an instant hit with the masses and a real favorite among movie-lovers from all over India.
This time David Dhawan is making his own version of this classic, which won’t be a strict remake of the 1981 film per se, but a film genuinely inspired from the madness and delightful confusion of Sai Paranjape’s film. It has the same story of three friends in love with the same girl leading to much chaos but from the trailer and songs it promises a fresh approach which is the essential element of David Dhawan’s movies (Aankhen, Raja Babu, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya to name a few). While the 1981 version had a subtle social undercurrent embedded in it, this film is going to be a fun-filled rollercoaster ride of comedy, laughter and love.
The film is essentially a story about friendship and romance having a universal appeal and its release this week has certainly got people talking. The title song Har Ek friend kamina hota hai is a foot-tapping number from music director duo Sajid-Wajid and has quickly become popular with the youth.
It is expected that Chashme Baddoor (2013) will seamlessly combine the charm of the ‘original’ and the ‘new’ as the script is co-written by Sai Paranjape (director of 1981 version) and David Dhawan. The cast is really talented with Siddharth, Ali Zafar and Divyendu Sharma in the lead roles. Seems that much of the craziness is going to come from the casts’ acting skills along with Tapsee Pannu (already a star in the South) providing a soulful romance to this laugh riot. David Dhawan has consistently surprised audiences with his comedies and the audience really enjoys the kind of film he makes. This time he is taking the comedy to a level higher by remaking the classic in his own inimitable style.
We wish the entire cast and crew good luck for the film.
