While Dhoni-led Team India set purist hearts alight with pain and frustration through a disastrous 2012 season, there are certain figures and statistics that could encapsulate ‘funny moments’ of a cricket team that was on top of the world not very long ago.

Not mere averages, run rates, strike rates, wickets, retirements, career stats or the size of Gambhir’s Obelix nose- but numbers that pretty much tell the story while new depths were reached and jobs remained secure.

In short, 2012 has been the year in which India’s most consistent test batsman apart from Pujara has been a bowler that was supposed to take over from Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.
