A very interesting mix form the top 10 on BMS for September 2010:
- We Are Family
- Puli (Telugu)
- Resident Evil: Afterlife
- Anjaana Anjaani
- Step Up 3D
- Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
- Boss Engira Baskaran (Tamil)
- Avatar Special Edition
Dabangg of course, took an opening that set all sorts of records on BookMyShow. However, the madness seems to have subsided and it seems very doubtful the film will overtake 3 Idiots in the long haul.
Endhiran/Robo/Robot comes in at 3 just on the basis of a few days of advance sales in September (The movie actually released on 1 October). In addition to this, when a mega blockbuster releases in the South, online capacity gets severely curtailed to ensure that people in the serpentine box office queues (who may not have the ability to buy online) also get a reasonable opportunity. In spite of these limitations, Rajni Sir shows who truly is the Boss!
Also this month, Avatar makes a surprising re-entry into the top 10 on the back of the release of the Special Edition. September really has been a mixed bag of English, Hindi and regional films.
We now look forward to October where Endhiran and Anjaana Anjaani have already taken a strong opening. Films to watch out for this month include Khaleja, Brindaavanam, Eat Pray Love, Jhoota Hi Sahi, Rakta Charitra and Allah Ke Bandey.
