Dadasaheb Phalke Award Recipients

Dadasaheb Phalke, often regarded as 'The Father of Indian Cinema', was an Indian filmmaker who directed India's first full-length feature film 'Raja Harishchandra'. In order to commemorate his contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of India introduced the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1969, which is the highest award in cinema and is presented annually at the National Film Awards. The first-ever recipient of this prestigious award was Devika Rani, an actress, who was widely acknowledged as 'The First Lady of Indian Cinema'. Recently, there were reports that Priyanka Chopra will be conferred with the honor in a ceremony which is to take place in Mumbai on the 24th of April.
