Aamir Khan didn't have a single release last year but this Christmas, you'll get to see the actor on the big screen in Dangal. The film is based on the life of Mahavir Phogat, a wrestler from Haryana, who trained his daughters to become world champions. Long before the movie went on floors, Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari made an appearance on Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate. Both the sisters have won medals at the Commonwealth Games.
In the trailer, we see how Phogat wants a son to fulfill his dream of winning a gold medal in wrestling. After the birth of his fourth daughter, he gives up on his dream until he realizes how strong his girls are. The rest of the trailer focuses on the rigorous training they undergo and the wrestling bouts. You also get to see the emotional bond between the father and his daughters.
The roles of the daughters are played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, and Suhani Bhatnagar. Popular TV actress Sakshi Tanwar will be seen as Mahavir Phogat’s wife. Dangal is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, whose previous films were Chillar Party and Bhoothnath Returns. Both those films received rave reviews and with Dangal, it looks like the advertising veteran has another winner on his hands. The film releases on December 23rd and you can watch the riveting Dangal trailer below.
