Desi Music, Videshi Style!

We are talking about Bollywood’s most Exotic songs!

And by ‘exotic’ we are not referring to Priyanka Chopra’s pompous single :P, but those songs that caught our attention for being a li’l hatke ’cause of the lyrics, the music or maybe the theme! With Bollywood leaving no stones unturned to surprise us, songs are one of the areas the directors are cashing in on, to pull in the crowds to the theatres. Remember Mr. Bachchan’s quote from Bhootnath Returns? ‘Gaana Hit Toh Picture Superhit!

The latest song to follow this trend is Afghan Jalebi from Kabir Khan’s upcoming film, Phantom. Here’s a look at the song, if you haven’t seen it already:

We bring you 6 more songs that were rightly flavored with the foreign tadka:

Ik Junoon (ZNMD):

The song that introduced India to La Tomatina! You’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to experience the festival after this song. Brownie points to Zoya Akhtar for tempting us!

Jiya (Gunday):

Shot entirely in Oman, Priyanka looked every bit the Arabian princess in this song. And Ranveer, of course her prince.

Masha Allah (Ek Tha Tiger):

Katrina Kaif‘s captivating dance moves and the exhilarating touch of Arabian tunes made this song completely mesmerizing. #Masha Allah!

Senorita (ZNMD):

Not only did the lyrics have the Spanish touch to them, but also the dance. Watch Hrithik, Abhay and Farhan do the Flamenco!

Maria Maria (Partner):

Looks like Bollywood is obsessed with Spanish music! Yet another Spanish-sounding song, with Salman expressing his love to Maria (Lara Dutta).

Dil Laga Na (Dhoom 2):

Move over Vengaboys, Bollywood has found its way to Brazil! Here’s how we captured the Carnival.

Yes, now would be the time to sing – ‘I’m feeling so exoootic!‘ 😛 Do you have any favorites? Let us know in the comments below!
