Dhanush’s Big Plans for 2016

 In 2015, Dhanush appeared in four films. These films include Anegan, Maari, Thangamagan and Shamitabh (Hindi).His films might not have been well-received by the audience, but it did set the cash registers ringing. All his Tamil films received good openings at the box office, including the Tamil film, Maari. Shamitabh gained appreciation from the critics, but failed to win the attention of the audience. 2015 was a good year for producer Dhanush. His films Kaaka Muttai and Kakki Sattai met with phenomenal response, with the former even gaining national and global recognition. 2016 too looks like an eventful year for the actor. Let’s take a look at Dhanush’s projects this year.

The Hollywood Debut
 
 
Dhanush is all set to make his Hollywood debut in 2016 and this certainly has been the biggest news of the week. Titled The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir and directed by Marjane Satrapi; this film will star Dhanush opposite Kill Bill-star Uma Thurman and Alexandra Daddario. It is reported that Dhanush will play a character named Aja, who is a conjurer from an artists colony in India. The film is expected to be shot in India, Paris, Morocco and Italy.
 
Dhanush’s Upcoming Projects
 
 
Directed by Prabhu Solomon, the untitled project stars Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. The film is said to revolve around Poochiappan (Dhanush) and Saroja (Keerthy Suresh) whose love story begins in a train. The post-production of the film is in full swing, and is likely to release this summer. 
 
 
Dhanush’s second project – Kodi, is in its last leg of shoot. Directed by Durai Senthil Kumar of Kaaki Sattai fame, this film will see Dhanush sporting a thick beard. The story of the film is reportedly set against the backdrop of a political turmoil. The actor is said to play dual roles in this film. Kodi also features Shamlee and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles.
 
 
After working on successful projects like Polladhavan and Adukalam, director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush team up for Vada Chennai. Said to be released in two parts, this film is said to chronicle the life of a gangster. The film will also see Samantha paired opposite Dhanush. Their last venture together was Thanga Magan.
 
Dhanush – The Producer
 
 
 
Dhanush’s first venture as a producer this year, will be Vetrimaaran’s Visaaranai, which is said to release on February 5th. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it won the Amnesty International Italia Award. 
 
Dhanush will produce Amma Kanakku, the official remake of the Hindi film, Nil Battey Sannata. Starring Amala Paul, Revathi and Samudrakani, this film is the story of a mother and her daughter. Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who directed the original film will direct the Tamil version as well.
