Dil Dhadakne Do: Film Review – An entertaining family drama

A movie that everyone was waiting for, where the dream star cast meets a near perfect director. Zoya Akhtar has returned with a flick that explains the term "Bollywood" in every possible way. Dil Dhadakne Do is a film that includes everything, from drama to comedy. Every emotion that our film industry is known for can be seen in this simple yet complicated movie. Family drama, love, fights and lame jokes, the complete package that will surely not disappoint.

The story revolves around the Mehras, an upper class family from Delhi. Their son, Kabir, is basically good for nothing and their daughter, Alia, is unhappily married. Every family has issues but issues are different when you are a millionaire. To save his sinking ship, Kamal Mehra thinks of a master plan. He wishes for his son to marry Noorie, the daughter of the family willing to offer help. Problem strikes when she falls for someone else and Kabir falls for a dancer on the cruise. Meanwhile, the unhappily-married daughter, played by Priyanka Chopra, plans a divorce and the situation worsens when her ex, Sunny (Farhan Akhtar), arrives on the cruise.

The story somehow connects because the problems that occur have probably been experienced by you. What is really commendable about the movie is that it addresses two very important social issues between all the mess and confusion – The importance of gender equality and how parents interfere in their children’s life. The story beautifully blends these issues and creates moments around it. Ranveer Singh, who plays Kabir, has proved himself yet again with an amazing display of his action and comedy skills. All the actors have done a great job, but the movie is a bit stretched. The outstanding scenic locations are a treat to look at and the dialogues, written by Farhan, make you laugh every once in a while.

The movie tends to get a bit dull and boring at times, with the story being dragged. The director has done a good job giving every actor a character that easily sticks with us. Anushka Sharma, who plays Kabir’s love interest, adds the necessary glamour to the film. A film that will take you on a roller-coaster ride, showing you the highs and lows of a family, every family to be honest. Movies that promise so much are rare, so don’t miss out on this one. If you still aren’t convinced, there is another member of the Mehra family, Pluto Mehra! A dog you will fall in love with.

Why you should watch this film?
It is very easy to get carried away when your star cast is filled with such gems. However, the director has done a great job handling every character. Ranveer Singh’s comic timing and witty dialogues keep you entertained throughout the film. Special mention to Pluto Mehra. Believe it or not, the dog is the only character that connects with you till the end. A little stretched and dragging, the movie could have done better if the redundant parts were taken out. Overall, you should watch this movie at least once!

It was complete crap, I really don’t know how can so many super stars who missed the reading the script. There is completely no logic applied while taking. How can a dog narrate a story where he’s not present in the scene (ghost or super dog) seriously man. It is complete waste of money and TIME.

It has become a trend where the actors enjoy doing the movies abroad, while we end up paying for that(in terms of tickets).
