DIY: Bollywood Decor for Diwali

It’s that time of the year again. Bring out those pretty, twinkly, fairy lights, bright kandeels, the colorful rangolis, the flickering diyas and non-stop supply of sweets. Diwali is the time when we exchange gifts, buy new things, and our homes suddenly get a lot of attention. We clean the ghar to impress Goddess Lakshmi or more often than not, just to make an impression on our neighbors. Of course, there are plenty of reasons why we do up our homes, this time of the year. This Diwali, we are giving you tips on how to do up your place exactly like film sets. Yes, let’s add a little bit of Bollywood glam to our homes and lives.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s Sheesh Mahal
PRDP is going full Mughal-e-Azam style, and you can, too. Add a big and bright chandelier to your home. Decorate with a lot of small Moroccan lights/lamps and voila, you have a pretty colorful and bright Sheesh Mahal of your own this Diwali.
Jodhaa Akbar
Give your home the regal vibe by adding drapes made of light fabrics like chiffon and net. Use festive colors like gold and there’s your own royal darbar. Add big cushions preferably in an intense color tone and in velvet to add that extra bit of glam.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
If you have a small body of water, like in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, you can have your own little floating decoration. You can add flowers to the water and add tealight candles instead of diyas.
Devdas
Go super traditional with Devdas. Go over-board with diyas and give Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit some competition.
Aisha
Change the setting of your place. Ditch the sofas and diwans for an on-the-ground setting. Use cushions and flowers to add the festive feel.
And remember to have a great Diwali 🙂
