David Dhawan movies have their own audience. Because the movies have just one theme – brainless comedy or comedy without logic. You don’t look for sarcasm or intelligence in the humor. You just go to the cinema to spend your time and money which will make you laugh and forget everything else. You might find it strange but that’s the USP of his movies- movies that you can watch with family. Do Knot Disturb is the latest addition to the list but still doesn’t live up to the standard that Dhawan has created for himself.
The film is about a super rich husband, Raj (Govinda) of a super rich wife Kiran (Sushmita Sen). Raj has an extramarital affair with a supermodel, Dolly (Lara Dutta). Kiran suspects her husband of having such affairs so she hires a detective. Raj hires a waiter called Govardhan (Rithesh Deshmukh) to be Dolly’s pretend boyfriend. Here, Dolly has an ex boyfriend Diesel (Sohail Khan) who still loves her and keeps bumping into her and Govardhan. Then, a series of confusing scenarios and errors lead to a brainless comedy.
Ritesh Deshmukh is always known for his timing in comedy. He’s almost there when compared to Govinda. Govinda, as usual, is very good throughout the movie. Sushmita Sen doesn’t have much footage, and from her shaky voice and terrible acting it looks like it’s time for her to retire. Lara Dutta looks stunning but that doesn’t help her acting skills. Ranveer Shourie delivers well while Rajpal Yadav’s role is getting smaller by the day and more typical.
There are many flaws in the film such as unwanted songs that are added only because Govinda loves to dance. Then there are scenes which are much too kiddish. Govinda fails to deliver the charm that he did with David Dhawan in all No.1 series films. Even Partner has a lot more ‘Govinda’ to it than this film. Overall, the film can be watched if your kids are insisting and you have nothing much to do over the long weekend.
