Live Earth’s global concert was held across 11 countries, attracting over 10 million viewers via internet and television, last year. 24 hours of music from stage concerts in New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, London and Sydney, featured Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many other artistes. The event not just thrilled audiences but also sent out an environmental message.
This year Mumbai will host the event at Andheri Sports Complex on 7th December. Performing on stage will be Roger Waters, Bon Jovi, Anoushka Shankar, Jalebee Cartel, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Live Earth 2008 hopes to reach 200 million nationwide, the proceeds of which will benefit TERI’s Light a Billion Lives Campaign and Climate Project India, among others.
