If you have seen the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s next movie, Fan, Gaurav’s character would have definitely scared you. Played by King Khan, Gaurav is a man who is obsessed with the Bollywood superstar, Aryan Khanna (once again, SRK). The film, directed by Maneesh Sharma, releases on April 15th, and yes, we can’t wait to see SRK’s double avatar. In the past, too, many Bollywood actors have played more than one character in a film (PeeCee had 12 roles in Ashutosh Gowariker‘s What’s Your Raashee?). Here are some of the most popular double roles we have seen in Bollywood movies.
Salman Khan – Judwaa
This 1997 superhit had Salman Khan playing the role of twin brothers – Prem and Raja. While the former was a decent, educated man, the latter kept everyone in splits with his antics. It is reported that David Dhawan is planning to remake the film and cast his son, Varun, in it.
Deepika Padukone – Chandni Chowk to China
Chandni Chowk to China was heavily criticised and the movie was one of the biggest flops of 2009. Deepika, who had a double role, later claimed that she couldn’t refuse such a big project which starred the Khiladi Kumar.
Hrithik Roshan – Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai
Hrithik Roshan made his entry into Bollywood with a double role. In his debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, he played the lovable Rohit and the super cool dude, Raj. Well, we loved them both.
Akshay Kumar – Aflatoon
‘Aflatoon … Main Hoon Aflatoon’ was a really popular song in the 90s. It’s from the film, Aflatoon, which had Akki playing Raja and Rocky. The case of mistaken identities caused many laughs.
Kangana Ranaut – Tanu Weds Manu Returns
In the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Kangana made a comeback as Tanu and also played the feisty Datto. The character got so popular that now the makers are considering making a film on her.
