The movie narrates the story of Vlad the Impaler (Luke Evans), a young prince whose kingdom faces threat from King Mehmed II of the Turkish Dynasty. Desperate and determined to protect his people, he ends up making a pact with a monster, Master Vampire (Charles Dance). With the prince at war with his inner demons as well as Mehmed’s army, whether or not he will succeed in his conquest forms the crux of the movie.
Despite his charming personality, Luke Evans fails to bring his role as Vlad and Dracula to life. However, Charles Dance as the pale-faced Master Vampire manages to generate some eerie moments. Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon also struggle to make a mark in their respective roles. The movie does feature some good special effect scenes that could salvage the bland presentation.
Why should you watch this movie?
