Shah Rukh Khan
Before he was the King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan was Abhimanyu Rai in Doordarshan’s Fauji. He also acted in niche films in the early ’90s. These include Mani Kaul’s The Idiot and Arundhati Roy’s TV film, In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. In case you haven’t watched these films, it’s time for a little rewind.
Saif Ali Khan
Way back in 1993, Saif Ali Khan’s performance in Aashiq Awara won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. But his first movie was Yash Chopra’s Parampara (1992). The film also starred Aamir Khan, Sunil Dutt and Vinod Khanna. From Parampara to Phantom, Saif has definitely come a long way.
The 21st century Gabbar of Indian Cinema made his Bollywood debut with a seven-second role. Yup, that’s right! Akshay Kumar appeared as a karate instructor in Mahesh Bhatt’s film Aaj (1987) for only 7 seconds.
Aamir Khan had his first starry moment way back in 1973. He appeared as a minor character in Nasir Hussain’s Yaadon Ki Baaraat. Aamir was also an Assistant Director for a short film called Paranoia by Aditya Bhattacharya. His acting career kickstarted with Ketan Mehta’s coming-of-age drama film, Holi (1984). It also starred Ashutosh Gowariker, Om Puri, Shreeram Lagoo, Deepti Naval and Naseeruddin Shah.
Salman Khan started his acting career with J.K. Bihari’s family drama, Biwi Ho To Aisi, in 1988. Though the role was minor, Salman managed to grab the attention of the people. For his second film Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), he received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. And now, he’s one of Bollywood’s biggest heartthrobs!
