Dhoom, which started India’s own Fast & Furious franchise, is in its third lap. With Dhoom:3, the chase continues, but this time, it gets "bigger & better", in the words of director and writer Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor). ACP Jai Dixit along with his sidekick, Ali return to chase a mastermind clown thief, Sahir (Aamir Khan). Donning the cloak of a clown, Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist will be playing an unconventional villain. Dhoom:3 also marks Aamir’s silver jubliee in Bollywood.
If the trailer of Dhoom:3 can be described in the simplest way, it could be said that it easily qualifies as the coolest trailer, that Bollywood has ever released. It’s superbly cut and promises to probably be one of the best crime-thrillers ever to be made in Indian Cinema. It contains the zeal and the enthusiasm of its predecessors but it also has a fresh appeal.
But yes, one can’t deny the apparent Hollywood inspiration. The trailer bears a close resemblance to a number of Hollywood flicks (Dark Knight, Now You See Me, Torque, The Bourne Legacy and The MI series). However, Aamir with his genius, once again ups the level of the film. Compare the look of the previous two films of the Dhoom series with D3, and you’ll instantly feel that D3 is a notch-higher than its predecessors. Khan has made sure that whatever he takes under his wing, is made spectacular. The leverage is the film’s dialogues, stunts and the picturesque Chicago, where the film has been shot. The film has graduated from the likes of a stealthy woman to the lithe and supple Katrina who will be seen making some sensual moves to seduce Clown, the thief.
“Clown banna serious kaam hai,” says Sahir in a scene, to which Aamir agrees. He sings, “Jeena yahan marna yahan…” whilst answering media’s queries and nodding to the answer that life, indeed, is a circus. Giving the credit of the film to its director and writer, Aamir says “Looking at the camera-work and cinematography of the film, the audience will be flabbergasted.” Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya), who has scripted the previous two films of the series, has turned director this time around. Aamir said that when he heard about the script for the first time, he was very excited and amazed at the way the entire franchise has been designed by Victor as it has emotions yet the suspense has remained intact.
Aamir with the film aims to entertain the masses rather than breaking the Box Office records. “I am not looking at the records, what is important for me is audience entertainment. And, entertainment cannot be counted in numbers.”
